I'm doing the London Amateur Ballet summer school next month which involves about 4 hours of classes each day. I'm looking for some ideas for quick and easy snacks for keeping my energy up. I'm vegetarian and I generally avoid fruit as snacks (makes me more hungry), but otherwise eat most things. Thanks in advance.

Just to say if anyone is looking for reasonably-priced basic accomodation, check out the universities. Lots of them rent out rooms in the student halls while they're off in the summer.

Well, last night my teacher told me it would be worth getting fitted for pointe shoes to start breaking them in. I'll have to wait a few weeks until finances are better, but quietly excited as these will be my first ever pair (I'm 32 and just started ballet last year).

Got my confirmation, now to book accommodation for August!

I must sort something out this week while things are comparatively quiet, although I do have a full day of ballet tomorrow.I've just paid for another rep workshop for Swan Lake with RAD, and waiting conformation on dates for two other workshops on "Mid Summer Night Dream" and "Cinderella" with Northern.

Not b&b as such, I'm planning to go through one of those websites where people rent their spare rooms out per night and it's self-catering. Even b&bs are really expensive!

I've sent my initial form in, now I'm checking my email constantly for the application pack.

Got my conformation on Saturday. Now its finding a suitable hotel. July and August is expensive at the Covent Garden travel Lodge where I normally stay, Farringdon is considerably cheaper, especially if its a saver booking. Must check some more out.

I'm planning to get a room in a house for the week - on a very tight budget!

Oh its not that bad, you don't do a solo on your own. you dance the solo steps but you do it as a group. Normally everyone does all of the solo's, then you choose one for the performance, but I guess you don't have to do it if you don't want.I've never danced a solo on my own for a performance, however I have done duet's and with two others. But I would really like too.

That's a relief - my memory for combinations isn't the best!

I don't know Don Q that well but I would think the Spanish dance at the beginning of act1 stands a good chance of becoming selected for our corps de ballet piece. Not sure about the solo'sWe did Swan Lake last year at Lantern Studio Theatre, that was Entrance of the Swans (Fully company)from Act 2.Waltz of the Swans with two separate groups again from Act2I think Tom would like to start to pull stuff in from act 1, but we wont know until nearer the time. Personally for solo's I would like to see entrance of Odette which contains Odette's mime scene and Odette's solo's both from act2, which are bot fantastic pieces to dance.

I guess not everyone gets to do a solo? Not sure I would have the confidence.

That's it, I'm broke now, just paid for both Summer Intensives.

I can't decide which week to book when it opens. Don Q sounds like fun, but Swan Lake is probably more my speed!

Booking should open today for Company and previous intensive attendees. Has anyone booked yet?

I'm new to the forum, but I have a couple of questions about the Summer Intensive at LAB this year. Firstly, can you pay a deposit on booking, or will you have to pay the whole amount? Also, apart from tuition, accommodation, travel and food, are there any other costs involved?
