  1. My daughter joined the programme last year having been an associate for a few years. She absolutely loves it and has improved in technique and confidence so much. The staff are very friendly, professional and approachable. She'll be leaving to take up a vocational sixth form place this year and will be sad to leave.

  2. I've been reading this forum for a few years now, through local classes, associates and more recently through the audition process. My daughter has had a couple of offers but has decided to accept Central. It's been a whirlwind of emotion but we've met some fabulous people along the way and I wanted to thank the forum and those who have passed on invaluable advice. Can't wait for the next phase. X

  3. Next naive question. Does anyone have any thoughts on audition venues. RBS and Central, for example, offer Manchester and Leeds as alternatives to travelling south for preliminary auditions. Other than saving money are there any benefits/detriments in staying north for prelims or should it/does it not make any difference? Thank you.

  4. Hi forum people

Could anyone throw light on the photographic requirements. Do you know how much focus is put on them during the audition process/selection. We've taken ours but not sure about the quality? Also, we aren't sure whether we will be applying for funding yet so am not sure which box to tick. It depends on a number of work related factors and the threshold for 2015/16 which we won't know about until that time. I've printed off last years forms to give me a guide as to what will be required.Thank you!

  5. Thank you swan princess and everyone else, really helpful advice. DD is currently on two associate programmes, this will be her 5th year, she's attending two summer schools and will be applying for sixth form/upper school places. Hoping we're on the right track. ????

  6. We're also not going this year due to work commitments but my daughter has done this for the past 4 years. She has absolutely loved it! The teaching is fantastic, all staff are friendly and approachable and the setting is stunning. It gave my daughter a real insight into what it would be like to do full-time training, but in a fun and safe environment. Her technique improved hugely. The children dance all day but have the evenings free and activities are provided. Everyone is very well cared for.

  7. My daughter is soon to take her RAD intermediate exam. She has been using Grishko soft pointes 2007 exam version. The most recent pair we bought are really hard, despite wearing them in and seriously bashing them. The glue has come apart and has become sharp as a result. I would welcome advice from the forum as to a nice 'soft' soft pointe which doesn't require too much breaking in. She has really narrow feet. Thank you!

  8. Hi everyone and thank you for your kind welcome to the forum. We weren't expecting WL letters until next week because the prelims are taking place until Sunday. And no, SATS had no bearing on my DD. I think the majority of state schools re-test them within a couple of months of arriving at High School. Given the number of dancing exams our children have done, I'd like to think that they would be better prepared mentally for most kinds of assessment than others. That's what we told ours, seemed to work a treat ;0)
