  1. My DD has just been accepted for full time at Tring so she's decided not to go to Summer school. Hopefully someone will get a call from the waiting list and I can get my money back to pay towards new uniform!

Do MDS's not cover uniform expenses now?  Hope it wont be too expensive for you, my hand always seems to be in my pocket!

  2. One question ?

Why would you book your young (aged 8-10 ish) year old child into an Advanced RAD ballet class suitable for Internediate/Advdnced grade dancers when there were both aged 10 & above & Grade 4 level classes plus beginner classes available.

The class was way too crowded but it was taught using minimal demonstration just using terminology (dd had to think occasionally as her teacher often uses The Russisn terminology sometimes)

No wonder it was crowded!  How can a 10 yr old be at advanced level.

  3. Hi Piccolo, my DD was recalled along with two other girls and were not offered funded places for yr 10, but waiting list.  She was offered a fee paying place, but I don't appear to have 30k a year knocking around in the bank unfortunately  :)  :)

Elmhurst finals give everyone a physio assessment, which i think is much fairer, agree that without the info from a physio how can they offer.

  4. My lovely fellow ballet co friends.

I have several friends who's DD & DS's are at a vocational school and have received an email stating reference requests.

Tring Park School have confirmed that they DO NOT send for reference requests until the "yes" letters are sent out.  In their words today "they simply would not have the time to write for references for all students who audition"

Hope this puts some of your minds at rest as I know this has caused many sleepless nights!

    :)

  5. I know for a fact that Tring Park School do not inform other schools of DC's auditioning with them.  It is entirely up to the DC and / or parent to tell the vocational school.   I would guess out of common courtesy, I know of several children at vocational schools that have auditioned at other schools and kept it very hush hush.

  6. Is anyone going to the older age group Auditions for Snow white?

We watched MTB performance of Beauty and the Beast last year and were astounded at the quality of the production but were too late to audition for this years  the lion the witch and the wardrobe. My DD would love to be in Snow white and is very nervous about auditioning just wondered if anyone else was going to the preliminaries on Sunday 26th?

  7. Is this not what our dedicated ballet teachers do? Who would know our childrens capabilities physically, mentally and artistically better than the person who teaches them daily ? Most teachers have experience of former pupils attending schools and can guage which would be most suitable for our DD/S. With no extra charge and a lot of TLC.

  8. Just incase anyone is in the same boat ,Midland theatre ballets three day course for 6-19 year old covers ballet class, rep, pointe work, pas de deux and jazz culminating in a performance for parents. The teaching faculty sounds great with James Wilkie from RB, Ruth Brill from BRB and Olivia Pickford their resident ballet Mistress. A friends dd got accepted onto the course yesterday so there may still be places.
