The DVD and BluRay of the Royal Ballet production of “Within the Golden Hour” / “Medusa” / “Flight Pattern” has appeared on Amazon as due for release on 17th January 2020!!
I have also been told in ROH shop that the long awaited “La Bayadere” from last November will be available in February.
Bayadere DVD and Blu Ray are now available for pre-order on Amazon with a February 21 release date.
Also able to be pre-ordered for the same release date is Natalia: Force of Nature. Currently only the Blu Ray format is able to be pre-ordered. There is a separate entry for the DVD format, but it has yet to go live for pre-order.

A quick question for anyone who knows: do most dance releases still come out as DVD and Blu-Ray? If not, is there greater weighting towards Blu-Ray or DVD - or is it unpredictable which format is chosen?
Most seem to come out in both formats. I can't think of any that are blu ray only. The more recent Mariinsky ones come with both DVD and blu ray (my Romeo and Juliet came in that dual format and I gave the DVD to a friend) in the way many Bfi releases do. A smaller number come out in DVD format only - presumably where the footage is older and not amenable to/of high enough quality for the blu ray format (for example, most of the Bejart discs, although the Beethoven 9 came in both formats).

announced WHERE???
The Cranko is on Amazon UK available for pre-order although hard to find (you need to search "John Cranko blu ray" as the product page doesn't have Romeo and Juliet in the name). Also easier to see here: https://www.mdt.co.uk/prokofiev-john-crankos-romeo-and-james-tuggle-c-major-bluray-1.html

(Wonder too in light of Brexit if visas might now be a greater difficulty for some foreign [e.g., non European] nationals. [Plus for American ex-pats FATCA presents very particular and ever more stringent difficulties.]
Isn't Brexit likely to help non-EEA nationals on this front? It should level the playing field, so EEA nationals are not privileged over people from the rest of the world. FATCA shouldn't be a real problem for anyone who isn't trying to hide money from the taxman.

On March 10th C-Major are releasing a Blu Ray and DVD of Helgi Tomasson's Romeo and Juliet with Maria Kochetkova and Davit Karapetyan dancing the leads. It is available for pre-order on Amazon. Has anyone seen the Tomasson production and have a view on it?

There are currently some tickets available for all 3 performances. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/les-enfants-terribles-by-javier-de-frutos
Agreed, and you can also find them on the Barbican website. https://www.barbican.org.uk/eticketing/performancelist.asp?shoID=40590&q=799f3a2c-3eac-4987-98e9-4d4a7b7673ec&p=3ae9e8b9-9e95-4fa8-99ce-369975975f4e&ts=1484785975&c=barbican&e=barbicanqueue19&rt=Safetynet&h=6df309543f72e77f4c37e1f6130cc301

Another upcoming release is what looks like a 90th birthday documentary on Yuri Grigorovich called "The Golden Age: the Life and Art of the Bolshoi's controversial choreographer". No further details - Bel Air Classiques just posted on their Instagram feed that this was "coming soon" on dvd. Might be interesting.

A dvd of a documentary about Millepied's creation of Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward on Paris Opera Ballet (I believe it was the first new ballet he created on them as director of dance) is now available for pre-order on Amazon and it looks like the film may be showing in some cinemas as there have a been a few recent newspaper reviews. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01K297J8O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
I think a non-subtitled dvd of this is already available in France as it was in the Paris Opera shop (named Releve) when I was there a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for your wonderful review, DonQFan, and to you, Duck, for posting the video!
As the dancers have to do a concours in November, do they know the results before the onstage announcement? Louvet certainly seemed very surprised! Many congratulations to him. ☺
I think the concours relates to promotion as high as Premier Danseur only. So it was his already announced promotion to Premier Danseur (announced early November, but presumably to be effective on January 1, 2017, as he is still listed as a Sujet on the website?) he won at that stage. I believe promotion to Etoile is unrelated to the concours and is effectively in the sole discretion of Dupont (technically I think she has to recommend it to the Director of the Paris Opera and he makes the promotion), so I assume that while she would have decided on the promotion and discussed it with Stephane Lissner beforehand, she would have pulled the trigger only when the performance had been seen to go well. Given that Paquette and Pagliero are already Etoiles, as soon as Lissner and Dupont appeared on stage there presumably wasn't much doubt that Louvet was about to get promoted.

I am going to give it a go and just pray that she makes better choices of rep than Osipova/Vasiliev/Polunin/Vishneva have done on similar projects in the last few years.

I agree it is expensive but it is a Gala after all - and the only chance that UK dance audiences who don't travel will have annually to get a glimpse of POB or NYCB dancers - should they actually show up.
The chances of POB dancers showing may be good, as I believe some are participating in the McGregor Tree of Codes performances at Sadler's Wells and those seem to end on the saturday evening before the gala. Of course it depends on the Parisian gala participants also being involved in Tree of Codes.

My understanding now is that this is provisionally scheduled for around March/April next year. Good news if confirmed but a long time to wait! No sign so far of Amazon discounting their arts discs but I continue to hope!
It (Frankenstein) is now on the ROH shop website for pre-order with a January 27 release date. Can't see it on Amazon yet.

The BBC programme Nureyev - Dance to Freedom with Artem Ovcharenko is coming out on DVD on October 31st. Is available for pre-order on Amazon.

They do regularly discount Opus Arte discs. They have already done so with Rhapsody and Two Pigeons - my Blu-Ray arrived this morning and had £5 off, although the price has temporarily returned to full price today; it will undoubtedly come down under £20 from time time (although I don't think I have seen them go much under £16). Especially if you have Prime and don't have to have the disc the day it comes out, I think it is much cheaper to get them from Amazon than through the ROH shop (even if you have a friends discount).

"And there must surely be ample recordings for another Ashton DVD by now, perhaps including Daphnis?"
Don't you think the next Ashton release will be The Dream/Symphonic Variations/Marguerite and Armand following the live cinema relay on the 7th June next year?
Hopefully wrt The Dream and Symphonic Variations. I can't see them issuing another recording of M&A now when they issued one only three years ago.

I see these are listed on the Presto Classical site in both DVD and blu-ray formats as forthcoming over the next few weeks. I don’t know many of them but mostly they seem to be re-issues so I guess they will be familiar to most. Hopefully the blu-rays at least will be an improvement on earlier releases. The last three have already been mentioned on this thread as available from Amazon:
The Art of Patrice Bart - La Petite Danseuse de Degas
The Art of John Neumeier - Death in Venice
The Art of Patrice Bart - The Nutcracker
The Art of Mats Ek – Giselle
The Art of Hans van Manen - Six Ballets
Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring & The Firebird
The Art of Jiri Kilian - Three Ballets
The Art of Jiri Kilian - Car Men
The Art of Angelin Preljocaj – Siddharta
The Art of Petipa & Gorsky - Don Quichot
The Art of Marius Petipa – Raymonda
O'Regan: MataHari
That Hans van Manen disc is good (I have it on the previously issued DVD) and includes Solo, which many loved when NDT 2 performed it at Sadler's Wells earlier this year. Deja Vu and Two Pieces for Het are very good as well.

I see that a DVD and Blu-Ray of Alvin Ailey dancing a programme including Chroma was recently released and is available on Amazon (although "fully" priced, and I don't think the C Major Entertainment discs tend to get discounted in the way Opus Arte ones do from time to time):

Amazon have just listed their blu-ray price for Two Pigeons - £38.36 compared with the ROH price of £29.99!!!!
They seem to do this quite often with Opus Arte releases. Way ahead of release the blu ray will be nearly £40 then it corrects to £29.99 and then you start getting real discounts. It happened with the upcoming release of the ROH Cav & Pag, which has now adjusted to £29.99 and I am sure it will come down further. Not sure why this happens but I only see it with Opus Arte releases.
Same pricing issue has come up with the Gala des Etoiles blu ray which as of today is showing as available for pre-order.

Thank you! Oddly, even when I copy and paste the exact title given on the Amazon page it doesn't show in the search results! Anyway, good to have this and I have registered for an email when they make it available for pre-order.

Also, looking on Amazon there seems to be a new, upcoming DVD by Opus Arte called Gala Des Etoiles. Filmed in 2015. Due to be released on the 30th September 2016. Has an interesting mix of dancers by the looks of it.
I'm interested in this but having trouble finding this either on Amazon or with a google search. Are you able to post a link to where you are seeing it?
Upcoming DVD/Blu-ray Releases
in Ballet / Dance news & information

The blu ray is listed; it just isn't able to be ordered at this stage. This has happened several times with Royal Ballet/Opus Arte releases over recent years (I always buy the blu ray and so have often had to wait to make the pre-order) and seems more likely to be Amazon's product loading issue than a sign that Opus Arte are going with DVD only. Bizarrely, Amazon already have the Cellist/Dances at a Gathering DVD and blu ray available to pre-order and with what seem to be final packaging images even though the release date is said to be January 2021. I thought that with Elizabeth the issue was said to be that they didn't use the right sort of camera for blu ray to make sense, but I may be wrong; I recall the topic being discussed before regarding that particular recording. I still find it absurd that Opus Arte don't make their recordings available online, given that DVD and even blu ray are used by fewer and fewer people.
