All4dancers
I can't help feeling some of the comments are a bit harsh. Rightly or wrongly, there are reasons for the decisions made about 'boarders only' events and these were mentioned at audition.
Picturesinthefirelight
I asked about this sort of thing at induction & was assured that day students were made to feel included. But whatever the reasons are, we now know the score so have to decide how to proceed. I have a very unhappy little girl at the moment with no social life at all
Picturesinthefirelight
I started the thread not to criticise the decisions made but to gain a comparison with how other schools handled this type of situation
Billyelliott
One day when we win the lottery (better start plsyingvitvingurss!) The boarding costs were heavily subsidised by the MDS in this case ! How very sad to have what should be a wonderful experience for your DD tarnished in this way - hope it can be resolved somehow - big hugs ! Piccolo
Well Dd isn't a voc student but we did the WL tour when she was a JA... I seem to remember the house parent explaining that day students are encouraged to become involved with weekend activities, and can have sleepovers. The message seemed to be that inclusiveness was paramount to the wellbeing of day students because it helped them to thrive in their studies. Good luck with it all! Farawaydancer
At the Elmhurst induction day I spoke to the mum of a day pupil and she was saying that her dd only comes home to sleep - she eats and stays at school with her friends until the very last minute and is back in time for breakfast! She also spends a lot of time there at weekends. I hope you get things sorted out, it sounds like a difficult situation.
