Summer Internship Scheme 2015 - Music and Film Intern British Council - London Temporary, Internship British Council UK Summer Internship Scheme 2015 Every summer, we bring new ideas to the organisation by taking on between 10 and 12 interns for a 12-week period from June - September. We learn from having new talent in the organisation during the summer months; plus, we gain an insight into how we can deliver the best opportunities for young people. In return, you learn new skills while on a paid internship, and make some useful contacts for the future. If you are keen to learn more about working for a global charity and to make a real difference over the summer then this opportunity is definitely for you! As part of the programme you will join a specific department in one of our key business areas, and work with a dedicated line manager working on real projects, that add value to our organisation and our international work. You will also take part in a group project, where you will be able to apply your project management and team working skills as well as receiving career advice and training that provide you with real direction and perspective to take away with you on completion of the programme. Music and Film Internship The British Council’s Arts team works with the best of British creative talent to develop innovative, high-quality events and collaborations that link thousands of artists and cultural institutions around the world, drawing them into a closer relationship with the UK. One of our main aims is to change out-of-date ideas about the UK by focusing on contemporary work in the arts. Our arts business unit works across 7 distinct art forms. This internship will focus specifically on our Music and Film departments. Music and Film are working together to develop a new collaborative, cross disciplinary programme, to be piloted in East Asia. We have secured New Showcasing investment to develop the first stage of an ambitious, umbrella programme that will focus on showcasing ‘Live Score’ cinema events and a week long training and development ‘lab’ in the UK for participants from East Asia. As an intern you will work across programmes in both teams on international projects such as Sound & Vision, but also Film Team’s Short Support scheme and Music teams’ Nigeria Remix project. This role would give a candidate with a proven interest in music and film to take an active part in this ambitious team, documenting events, updating websites and keeping the team’s social media presence relevant and strong. For this role, we are looking for a candidate with experience of social media within a work context and an all-round enthusiasm for the Arts.
