Melody
Just read about Geraldine McEwan's death yesterday at the age of 82 after a stroke in October. She was one of that great generation of actresses who are now in their late 70s and 80s and many of whom are still going strong as though retirement was for lesser mortals (thinking of Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in particular). With the way the acting profession has changed since the advent of TV, I wonder if we'll see such strength in depth in the future. I always used to enjoy her quirky approach to her roles; I have fond memories of Mrs Proudie, Lucia, Miss Farnaby, Miss Jean Brodie, and Miss Marple. Lisa O`Brien
Yes,very sad. I never watched her as Miss Marple, but I remember watching her in The Pride of Miss Jean Brodie when It was on. I was only a child, and I always remember the part where there were two young girls who used to laugh and giggle and talk about "sexual intercourse". I had no idea what that meant and had to look it up in the dictionary. I certainly wasn`t going to ask my mum what it was. Funny the things you always remember!
