Atomos, the most recent full-length work by cutting-edge contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor, returns to Sadler’s Wells on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February 2015, following a rapturous reception at its world premiere in 2013.

Atomos continues McGregor’s ongoing exploration of scientific ideas and principles. It is performed by the ten dancers from the award-winning Sadler’s Wells Resident Company Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in McGregor's unique style - sculptural, rigorous, jarring and hauntingly beautiful.

Wayne McGregor’s dynamic style and ground-breaking collaborative approach across dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science has seen him create an exceptional body of work over the past 20 years. A Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist, McGregor is renowned for his physically testing choreography and highly innovative collaborations across dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science.

This production brings together McGregor’s longtime collaborators, lighting designer Lucy Carter and filmmaker Ravi Deepres, along with costumes by Studio XO and a score by neoclassical ambient composers A Winged Victory For The Sullen, which will be performed live. The score for Atomos was released as the second album by A Winged Victory for the Sullen in October 2014, to rave reviews.

McGregor has created new works for Paris Opera Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, New York City Ballet, Australian Ballet, English National Ballet, NDT1 and Rambert Dance Company among others. In addition to his role as Artistic Director of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, he is also Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet (appointed 2006).

His works are also in the repertories of the leading ballet companies in the world including the Bolshoi, Royal Danish Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Boston Ballet and Joffrey Ballet. He has directed movement for theatre and film including Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire, and has choreographed music videos including the Grammy-nominated Lotus Flower video for Radiohead, and Ingenue for Atoms for Peace. His other recent work includes Borderlands for San Francisco Ballet and Raven Girl for The Royal Ballet.

A pop-up exhibition, Thinking with the Body - Mind and Movement in the work of Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, originally created at Wellcome Collection in 2013, will be on display in the foyer on performance days.
