zxDaveM Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 The Royal Ballet have co-published a new ballet book (aimed at children from 3 to 83) called 'Ballet Spectacular'. Has info on the repertoire, back stage processes (make-up, costumes, basic steps, etc), and lots of lovely photos. We were at the launch in Waterstones on Piccadilly, and here are a few photos: Ballet Spectacular - with Lauren Cuthbertson, Marcelino Sambe and Yasmine Naghdi© Dave Morgan. bangorballetboy Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 My bald spot looks a bit larger than I remember... 4
Nina G. Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Wonderful photos Dave. I'll be ordering several copies, one for myself and as Christmas gifts!
zxDaveM Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Wonderful photos Dave. I'll be ordering several copies, one for myself and as Christmas gifts! Thanks Nina. And the ROH will be pleased to hear that! :-) 1
alison Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Either Yasmine has got high heels on or she's a fair bit taller than I took her for.
bangorballetboy Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Either Yasmine has got high heels on or she's a fair bit taller than I took her for. She was in heels (obviously Lauren was in flats).
Anna C Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Super photos as always Dave. Lauren's poor foot! :-( 2

Beryl H Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I took a look at this book recently and it is an ideal present, beautifully produced, might buy it for myself, I am between 3-83. 3
alison Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I do hope we don't have any over-83s on here who are feeling left out 4
Nina G. Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I do hope we don't have any over-83s on here who are feeling left out Should have said between 3-103 1
Anna C Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I have the spine of a 103 year old, is that any good? :-D 4
WoodlandGladeFairy Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Its such a wonderful book, when I was visiting London in early October (went to see the 5th October matinee performance of RB in Manon) I brought a copy from the ROH shop, its such a happy book and so many gorgeous photos and illustrations! When I feel a bit meh and the weather is just uninspiring it is just the tonic. 1
LinMM Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I'm sure the book is great but what has Lauren done to her foot?

Yaffa Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 One of the sections mentioned in the Dance Tabs review is "Ballet School." What does this cover? Thanks Yaffa
alison Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 It's an attractive-looking book, certainly: rather a shame that it's aimed at children, though I had a quick flip through in the ROH Shop yesterday: did I really see that there was a "becoming a ballerina" section but not an equivalent one for boys? If so, that's very disappointing in this day and age. 1
Yaffa Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 If you can pay by Mastercard, Amazon currently has a "£5 off a £10 spend" offer with a discount code on most items which are sold and distributed by Amazon, with some exclusions - See http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?docId=1000842343 ). This brings down the cost of Ballet Spectacular to £6.64. Yaffa (with no connection to MasterCard or Amazon, just passing on the info)
