In a theatre stripped of seating, Transforming Matter is an intimate triple bill which aims to draw attention to the different ways in which an audience member is an active participant in co-creating a dance. The three pieces explore how we engage with the world and with each other, and act as an invitation to take part in an evening of shared experiences and multiple transformations. The Wild Card initiative aims to bring fresh perspectives to the stage and each time gives emerging artists from different spectrums of the dance landscape the opportunity to curate a mixed bill evening of cutting edge work. Neil Callaghan creates work that sits between the genres of dance and theatre. Since 2002 he has been creating performances both as a solo artist and in collaborations, including the Sadler’s Wells commission Electric Hotel by David Rosenberg andFrauke Requardt. Transforming Matter features two international artists at the cutting edge of dance – Mette Ingvartsen and Jeremy Wade – in rare UK appearances. Callaghan also performs an extract of his latest duet with long-time collaborator Simone Kenyon.
