Busymum Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 It all seems so real now! DD's audition date for the dance course has arrived. 3rd November. Now I am already feeling more stressed than I was before. Goodness knows how bad it will be on the actual audition day!
Lema Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Very exciting!! I haven't even applied anywhere yet or took photos ???? need to get a wriggle on I think!!
Happymum Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Same here Lema! No photos yet. I can't see the dates on Tring website :-( When did you apply Busy mum? It looks like we must hurry! Hope there is option to audition in January Edited September 18, 2014 by Happymum
Busymum Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Audition dates aren't on their website yet. I sent the form off weeks ago as it's DD's top choice! Have sorted photos for others but that's as far as it has got. I do need to sort those other applications out.
Happymum Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I have just noticed that the dates are on the website now. It looks like for Y7 all the auditions are in a month time 3, 5, 6 & 7th of November. Does it mean that there will be no auditions later in January? Or will there be more dates later?
Harwel Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I think that probably means that's it. As they appear to have all audition dates set out for the year, as they did last year.
Francesizzi Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Think they did put later audition dates on once the early ones full....
Happymum Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I've heard back from Tring and they said that they might have more auditions in January but they are not sure and advised to apply soon. So I've sent the forms yesterday and was impressed getting the confirmation email today with all the details. So my DD will be auditioning on Wed 5th Nov, in 4 weeks time exactly (scary!!!!) only today after class she will start to work on her solo with her teacher. I did my bit - I've booked a hotel near Tring. Anybody else will be there on 5th?
Happymum Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 And a question: do DC need a costume for their solos? It says on the form that girls need just a plain leotard and tights but DD's teacher said that 2 years ago her other student had a proper tutu for her solo.
sarahw Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 My dd just wore the audition leotard for lower school. She didn't mention anyone having anything else....
Miracle Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 3 years ago my DD & DS did their solo's in their audition cloths just wore correct shoes to match solo Genre. Both were offered a place and funding final.XX
sarahw Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 The bottom line is they are really just looking at the dancing potential, nothing else. And if it's for an MDS only the ballet. Â I too felt really stressed about leotards, shoes, solos etc but it becomes clear as you go through the process that what they are looking at/for is very basic. Â I think they probably decide within the first 10 minutes or less for lower school finals - before solos have even been reached.
Happymum Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Great, I agree that simple leotard is good enough, thanks for reassurance. So, anybody else auditioning on 5th Nov?
tutugirl Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 No , not auditioning, but might be there as it's Tring bonfire night and their fireworks are spectacular ! Best of luck for the audition x 1

DancingDays Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Wishing everyone who is auditioning for Lower School at Tring this week the very best of luck! Â Â If it's anything like the auditions days we experienced last year you'll have a great time and hopefully hear some beautiful singing as the school prepare for the Christmas Carol concert - we loved hearing them and seeing the dance classes that were happening...and now this year DD is amongst them all! Â It really doesn't seem like a whole year ago that we were auditioning. Â Enjoy it all

dramascientist Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Oh dear Happymum, your poor DD. Perhaps you can tell your DD to put all she feels for her pet into her dancing, all the happy times they shared and how special they were to each other?

sarahw Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Happymum  I feel for you both, how distressing. My dd's hamster died on Xmas eve and it was hideous - she had auditions in January.  Our tactic was 'Smarties would want you to do your best at the audition.'  Good luck tomorrow xx 2
Happymum Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Thank you SarahW. DD is going to audition tomorrow with her toe nails painted green (as grass, meadows etc) and beautifully painted white rabbit on one big toe nail and rabbit's name on the other one! Hope it works and cheers her up and brings her luck! 5
