James Garner RIP

I've just seen on twitter that James Garner has passed away at the age of 86.

 

I always loved his on-screen persona and never missed an episode of The Rockford Files.  I loved the films he made with Doris Day, especially The Thrill of it All.

 

It's a sad week for Hollywood with the passing of Elaine Stritch too.

Made me think of my late mother when I heard that he had died. She always used to watch The Rockford Files and had a crush on him.!!

Yes, R.I.P. James Garner. I used to like Rockford and his screen partnership with Doris Day was very entertaining. He seems to have been a genuinely nice guy. As an actor, he had great comic timing and presence, plus he was very attractive. I was interested to learn from the obituary that his mother was pure Cherokee. I am not surprised he altered his name though!

I am very sad to hear of James Garners passing and remember my mum watching the Rockford Files when I was little.  I wish someone would recreate that show today, but I can't think of anyone who could do Mr Garner justice.

I have fond memories of my great aunt loving this show - and of course it had a fantastic theme tune!

I loved him in the Rockford Files. He had a very natural persona. Perhaps they will re run some of them now.
