Interesting to see that RBS Upper School students will soon start to receive 'Life after dance'/ ballet career transition guidance within the formal RBS curriculum itself.

"Students will be encouraged to consider a wider view of the world around them and to recognise the transferable skills they have developed through their training."

Sounds wonderful to start this early...

yes I think this is a very good idea. There are so many ballet schools and relatively few companies - students need to realise they may not get to perform professionally even after training at an elite school.

And they also need to realize that even if they do get to perform professionally, they'll need something else to do after they retire. Reading books by dancers, one of the recurrent themes seems to be that life as a professional dancer is too busy and demanding for them to give much thought, never mind actual preparation, for the next stage of their lives.
