And (slightly earlier anniversary), Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet premiered on 9 February 1965. This strikes me as a bit of a perverse date since the ballet isn't exactly a celebration of true love. Maybe it was MacMillan's sense of humour at work or something.
