SPD444
Can anyone advise how long this should last please. It starts at 11.30 and would like to know how long it goes on for.
Tony Newcombe
155 minutes including intervals, according to ROH website. Probably wise to add 15 minutes to this for the dress full rehearsal.
SPD444
This is my first one, so do they perform the whole show as if its for real or is it stop-start-stop-start again.etc.
Tony Newcombe
The final dress rehearsal is done as a normal performance but some of the intervals might be a little bit longer than normal. very occasionally a dancer may mark a few steps.

capybara
But beware, also, that, occasionally, rehearsals in the Spring/Summer are used to run one of the mandatory annual Fire Drills and this can put another 30 minutes or so onto the running time. chrischris
Does anyone know, generally, how many full dress rehearsals each cast has before they perform for an audience? For something like Romeo and Juliet, for example, where you have loads of different casts, I guess each cast has rehearsal time on the stage and then does a proper uninterrupted run through as well. Obviously a triple bill will be a little easier than a full length, but it must be a nightmare to coordinate, with the opera also needing stage time. alison
I'm not sure each cast necessarily gets a full stage call, chrischris, especially not for the "big" ballets.
