stardancer
Hi my dd will be auditioning for schools and I have no idea how to take pictures, do you ask her teacher to take them in her studio or can you take them at home, with my dfs sofa and pictures of my rabbits in the background.or does it not matter. Anjuli_Bai
I think you should speak to your teacher. The background should be a blank wall - not cluttered. Be careful of shadows and lighting. Also, you need someone to check your alignment and position. Wear something with clean lines and simple. Tidy hair - tidy shoes..
drdance
I supervise with parents. Check them once printed too as what looks good on a screen might not look good in print
Circe
If not done before definitely do with teacher, and even if you have done them before get them checked. I did some recently for my dd that i thought were fine and she thought were terrible!

Anna C
Dd's teacher does them at the end of a private lesson. Sometimes she positions dd and my dh takes the photo, but this time for summer schools the teacher took the photos on my camera.
2dancersmum
I've always taken the photos in the dance studio with DDs teacher directing my DD and checking the shots. Its easier to know you are getting it right and easier to make sure you have enough distance to not cut off ends of fingers or toes as a blank wall in the home does not always have enough space. I always gave her teacher a list of positions needed so we could run quickly through them and I echo the advice of tidy shoes and hair and a leotard with clean simple lines. Good luck.
