MA auditions results

Can I ask if any non JAs have got waiting list. We have been given SWL as have the other two JAs from our centre and two that we know from another centre. I'm just interested if the Royal are doing the same with MAs as they appear to do with summer school and placing all JAs on to SWL rather than giving them a no.

That wasn't the case last year at my dd Ja centre. Out of 15, 2 boys and 13 girls, 5 girls got a MA place, 3 girls and both boys got swl and the other 5 girls got a no. One of the girls then went on to get a place off swl.

Some years ago now but my daughter and some of her JA friends got outright nos for MAs. We had already realised at that point, when she was already far more mature physically than the current MAs, that it probably was going to be a no!

Some years ago too, I had two pupils of the same age, one was a JA the other I hadn't even sent to audition for JA as she wasn't ready (she had joined me at age 7 and though promising had a lot of bad habits that needed ironing out).  The girl who was a JA got a no for MA, the non-JA got a place.

It's not for us - dd will be going to Elmhurst but her best dancing friend is desperate to go to Mids and every one we have spoken to or heard from (who attend JAs) has got SWL. We make the list for London 5 that we know of! That doesn't sound very short!

My DD is a JA at Bath. She got a straight No letter! Gutted to say the least. She really came on during this year as a JA and now I feel like she has lost the link with RBS - she also didn't get a place on the SS at WL and she will miss the friends she has made too. She has two wonderful ballet teachers and they are trying to push her on, we will just have to make the most of them and do extra privates with them to hopefully keep her up to standard to audition again next year. Congratulations to those with yes letters.

I know how you feel Fusster - feels like they're cutting you off somehow doesn't it.

In the space of two years my eldest son was assessed out of WL (despite bring awarded the "most improved" prize one year and improving significantly again the following year), my middle one didn't get MAs (despite everyone at JAs and her local school thinking she would), and my youngest son didn't get a JA place off the waiting list.

I don't think I'd done anything to upset anyone ;-) but it did feel a bit like it at the time.

Turned out ok though (although I personally missed it all terribly at the time) - eldest now a professional ballet dancer, middle one now a vet student (she carried on dancing for fun and competed in festivals) and youngest about to go off to uni (he gave up dancing early teens).

It's SWL for my dd too for London centre. (Just got back from hols to find letter!) Does anyone know of any girls who are going to decline an MA offer for London? Wondering if there will actually be any movement on the SWL! Well done to all those with yeses.

SWL for my DD :-( Grateful for the amazing opportunity she's had to do JA's though. Maybe time to broaden our horizon in other ways. We're certainly going to have more time on our hands on Saturdays! Congrats to the yeses and chins up and shoulders back the no's :-) xx

I would think that there is much more hope that a MA place will become available to DCs on the waiting list (certainly for a Y7 MA place) than in the case of JAs because there will be quite a lot of children who have MA offers but are going to vocational schools. Fingers crossed for those on the waiting list.
