LinMM
You can definitely do jazz in ballet flats. If it was me I would go for the ballet shoes over bare feet because sometimes you might do a step where you sort of let one leg drag across the floor which might be a bit sore on bare feet.
Anna C
Yes, for Contemporary dd often wears socks just over her toes to avoid that. I think she has foot thongs too so will get her to pack those too. :-)
Circe
Is anyone packing a tutu practice skirt? It was on the list for last year but not used, doesnt seem to be on the list for this so i guess not required...
Guest dancer2027
Don't own one yet and in 2012 nobody wore one! I shall bring a small wrap round skirt though if other girls are wearing them

afab
DD2 dropped but I missed everybody as we arrived a few minutes before 5!!! Terrible traffic on the M25 again!!  Anyway, I hope to catch up on Saturday!  DD2 is in group B apparently. Anyone else in that group?
Lifeafterballet
Ds is in a very small group G ! But they seem to join with all the girl groups at some stage ! Looking forward to watching the Romeo and Juliet repertoire on Saturday ! My favourite ballet
tutugirl
DS settled in and obviously having a good time - only 9 in his group . He says he has ' ballroom ' tomorrow - but that may turn out to be the ball scene from R and J - I suspect . Hope so , as DS is not a fan of Strictly !!! Still , one needs to be versatile !!!
afab
I think boys are always in groups G and H but they do join the girls for some classes...

afab
More or less the same age as my DD as she's nearly 15! They might be in the same PdD group... Yes she also said about Musical Theatre... And was very happy about it!
Bailarin
My DD is in group B Afab. Â I was thinking that about the "Ballroom" and think it might be a scene as there is also "Ballroom Trios" on there. Â Can't wait to see what they've been up to at the end of the week.
Anna C
Some lovely evening activities on the timetable, including a mime workshop with (IIRC) Miss Tait and Mr Kelly. Lucky students!
taxi4ballet
They must be being kept busy, I've heard nothing at all from my dd yet!
angel
Wondering if anyone has a DD who went to the junior course last year who can tell me any more about how intensive it is and what standard the DC's are generally. Plus, what the end of course showing of work is like. I know it's only three days but trying to gauge how worthwhile it is compared with other courses

taxi4ballet
You DD is in the same age group too, isn't she Taxi? She's 15, no idea what group she's in yet or what they're all up to, I am waiting with bated breath with my mobile phone in my hand.... Obviously having far too much fun to have time to text me!!!!!
taxi4ballet
How do they work out which group people go in - is it by date of birth? Two years running dd put in group below friend of same level and age but their birthday earlier in the year than hers. Â She's happy now though, as she asked to be moved to be with friend and they said yes!
afab
It's the way it should be isn't it even if it's hard for us poor parents sometimes...
Anna C
It seems there are a lot of 15 yr olds this year so there are 2 or 3 groups all of the same age but split alphabetically. Hence our dd's originally being split up taxi, but Mr Parker kindly reunited them! :-)
tutugirl
Another great day at the summer school . DS really enjoying it all . Had pas de deux with group D today , and BRB seem to be heavily involved . Thankfully ' ballroom ' was ball from Romeo and Juliet as opposed to Strictly ! Phew ! How is everyone else enjoying it ?

Lifeafterballet
Ds a lot happier this year ! Still far behind his peers and finding the classes challenging but loving it ! BRB dancers very encouraging and supportive ! Enjoyed the pas de deux ! So pleased there are some little ladies for him to dance with ! Lol !! Still waiting for that growth spurt !! Can't wait til Saturday !
Anna C
I misheard dd and thought she had Potions Class today, Ã la Hogwarts. Turned out to be "Potion" class - i.e. R&J rep where Juliet takes the potion. :-D
Circe
All good reports from my dd : jazz, contemporary and musical theatre as well as ballet. Pas de deux is the big treat as no chance to do this in usual classes. Look forward to seeing the work on saturday.
taxi4ballet
Oh, how I envy all you folks who somehow manage to actually get information out of their dc's... Â The only way I'm finding out what's going on is by reading this!!!
