kiwimum6
Has anyone heard anything back for course A yet ? I am not sure how long it will be before we know is the dcs are successful. ( given the awful quality of the photos we sent in, I am not holding my breath! ) it would be nice to hear soon so plans can start to be made !
tutugirl
Haha ! My DS photos were dreadful last year - taken in a sitting room - not warmed up - and a yellowish tone so he looked a bit jaundiced !! Needless to say he got a place !!!
Pavlala
They said it would be Mid March, but presumably today's extra Upper prelim takes admin precedence as the Final is next Saturday.
Lilac
Glad to know others haven't heard. I thought we were expecting to hear by the 14th but no news here. Any ideas how competitive it is to get a place. Not many summer schools my DD can fit in date wise - don't want to find others are full while waiting for this. Our photos weren't brilliant either! kiwimum6
Yes... I had forgotten about the audition. We have never done it before so not sure what the standard is or how competitive.
pastel
We just received a 'yes' via email today. Have to pay the full fee within 10 days to secure the place.

pastel
Afab - I'd love to say "yes" but at this stage it is "maybe". We really hope so.

Lilac
How old is your DC. Wonder if not hearing means no then?
pastel
dd is 16yrs. I imagine they must still be processing the emails. Or - perhaps we receive an email because we are O/S and letters go out to locals.
LinMM
Hope you can make it over....well done to DD. Love to meet up if you do make it!!
kiwimum6
We got dd's audition result by email and letter a couple of years ago so maybe they'll do both:) I expect we will hear really soon then. It would be a nice course to do I think.

kiwimum6
I am embarrassed by predictive text spelling of no. it was a yes for week 1 here 14th to 18th July
Regattah
Hooray! I'm so pleased Kiwimum! Is it for both your younger ones? Can you remember our two dancing together as JA's? Seems like a lifetime ago, but it was only 4 years!
kiwimum6
I know. So much has changed in that time! I only put ds in as younger dd would be on the other course and apart from expense I think she does enough at school. Not sure yet if we will be able to take his place... We'll see:) but nice to have been offered.

angel
Can anyone tell me about ENB Summer school B course? Trying to weigh it up against other courses. I think priority is corrections, so size of class is important.
Picturesinthefirelight
Not Hearn anything about it We discounted it as an option as its non residential. Also I think the closing date has passed.
angel
DD has been offered both weeks. Have to pay full fees within ten days so need to make a firm decision quickly!

angel
Does anyone know how much emphasis is on technique. Older DD was guessing that it is more about learning the repertoire but hasn't done the course herself…..
Picturesinthefirelight
That's the problem isn't it? Not knowing. We've had loads of learn the rep , put on a performance type summer school recommendations from people but we are looking for a small class, individual corrections & emphasis on technique one. angel
Yes that's what I want although private lessons with a good teacher is probably the answer
balletqs
Two of my students did it last year. They had Shannon Parker (they are following her to OPES this year) and Yohei Sasaki, they loved it and felt they learnt a lot. Think there were about 20 in the class. They did class, body con, contemporary/creative movement class (can't remember teacher), pointe class and Rep. They are good girls and wrote lots of the group corrections down they did lots of work on pirouettes and petit allegro and worked on the stretch of legs in pointe work. They did a class and rep demo on the last day. Mixed standard and they were not pushed to do really hard Vocab but emphasis was on refining technique. They give two class prizes at the end one for technical progress and one for artistry which one of our girls was delighted to get last year. One of the girls has a place again this year for week two and is going to a week at OPES, the other has a scholarship to wells away so opted for that and week at OPES instead. Hope that helps. angel
Thank you balletqs, that's really helpful (how old are the girls and what Grade?) Very happy to hear that the emphasis is on refining technique. Sounds perfect for my DD. Now just the small question of how I can be in two places at the same time as older DD is doing YBSS and it ends on the same day!
balletqs
Last year they had both just finished Year 8 and done their RAD Intermediate both received Distinction (one with 98) and felt they had some competition. Has she applied and got a place? I can't vouch for how it will be this year but all of our students and others I know have gained a lot from the ENBS courses. angel
DD is in year 7 at vocational school. She is working at Intermediate level and should be taking it before the course starts. Yes, she's been offered both weeks and I think if she does one she should do both so quite a financial commitment with accommodation as well
Ian Macmillan
We don't normally encourage cross-posting but could those with children accepted for the course please have a look at this new thread. A Mum needs help and you might be able to help.
