Picturesinthefirelight Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Does anyone know anyone who did vocational training from the age of 11 then went back to normal school/local dance school at 16 so they could do 3 rather than the usual 2 a levels offered at upper schools then back into dance college at 18? (of the |Arts Ed, Bird, Lanes ilk) Specifically if its not a classical career that is aspired to but MT.
Katymac Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Sorry Pictures; you know I'm a newbie is all this....
double trouble Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Don't know anyone but for MT u don't have to be as young in fact I've heard of students doing MT in their twenties. I was told by a MT school that they prefer students to get A levels first then start training so they have something to fall back on. But I guess it depends in the student and what they want
2dancersmum Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I know of someone who left at year 10 to get choice of GCSE subjects but they are not yet old enough to be auditioning after A levels to get in for MT. It was not one of the four ballet schools they left though as dance was never their main focus as far as I am aware.
BankruptMum Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 My DD was put off of auditioning for dance colleges as although they advertised being able to take 3 A levels some had to include Dance, Drama and one other. Not a wide choice of subjects.
Picturesinthefirelight Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 I guess I was wondering how these children coped with the transition back to normal school for those two years whilst still keeping up the number/level of classes. Still- it's a long time ahead & things may change.
