National Dance Company Wales return with a mesmerising new Mixed Programme. The programme includes: Stephen Petronio’s Water Stories, stylish dance set to a new score by Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Atticus Ross (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network), and works by internationally acclaimed choreographers Lee Johnston and Stephen Shropshire . Northern Ballet also present a new Mixed Programme featuring works by Dutch dance master Hans van Manen, Tony Award nominated US choreographer Lar Lubovitch and Northern Ballet Premier Dancer and British choreographer Kenneth Tindall. Swiss dance theatre company T42 Dance come to the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre on their first UK tour with the beautiful and humorous Tour D’Horizon. Fusing martial arts, breakdancing and capoeira, James Wilton Dance’s Last Man Standing is dance driven by unparalleled energy and athleticism. Jordi Cortés’ In Heavan comes to the theatre as part of Yorkshire Dance’s Juncture 2014 festival. Ballet Central showcases the talent of the young and emerging dancers of the future and Manasamitra bring a taste of Indian dance and mythology with Rudra. If you’re planning an outing with your little ones, the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre has recently been voted as the best family friendly theatre in the Yorkshire region in the Netmums Theatre Awards. The building, winner of the 2011 National Lottery Award for Best Arts Project, also houses a café bar which is open daily for pre-performance meals or drinks. The theatre was recently named as the best family friendly theatre in Yorkshire in the Netmums Theatre Awards. T42 Dance and James Wilton Dance are presented as part of New Realities in partnership with Dep Arts and Northern Ballet. New Realities is funded by Arts Council England and aims to bring contemporary dance and theatre to venues across Yorkshire.
