Pups_mum
Hi Bou, my daughter auditioned for JA at 'the point' in Eastleigh a few years back, when she was 8. It was a lovely experience which she really enjoyed. Lots of warming up and stretching going on outside before hand, but my daughter was happy to sit and watch the 'stretchers' putting their legs up by their ears!! Some parents were involved in the stretches and obviously knew what they were doing, I on the other hand had no clue on what was expected of them. My daughter was offered waiting list, but unfortunately a place never came up. She has just auditioned for Mid Associates which means going to London but once again had a lovely day, just awaiting the results of this now! Good luck xx Your daughter had the right idea Nancy! Far from knowing what they are doing, the parents encouraging their children in the extreme stretching prior to auditions etc could well be doing more harm than good. Stretching muscles before they are fully warmed is not a good idea. I think some people do it to show of a bit, or to try to pysche out the "opposition" but they are risking injury. Not getting drawn into that sort of thing is very sensible. Best of luck with the MA results.
Myveryownbillyelliot
Bou......... I may have given the wrong idea by my post. I wasn't aiming the comment " be nice to people on the way up etc" at you. I was coming from the angle of some of the parents you meet along the way, and there are some but most are lovely. I think you were just voicing your opinion and I was saying take care on here, cross wires. I don't know how long your daughter has been doing ballet but here is what happened to us regarding JA's. My ds fell into ballet (long story) by accident. Three months after starting his teacher suggested the JA audition. Less than six months after his first lesson we were at the JA audition, him knowing virtually nothing. One of the parents of a super bendy boy, when enquiring how long my ds had been dancing said " never mind, he can always try again if he doesn't get in" well, he did get in and her super bendy boy never did appear at the classes. The JA's are an amazing experience! My ds has loved every minute and has made some lovely friends there and so have I. Remember a possible no is not the end either. The only boy from our JA group to make it to White Lodge finals was only successful on his third attempt to get into JA's. With RBS you really can't second guess anything!!! Good luck to your dd x

Bou
As a result of all this i have now met an ex-JA and she is amazingly graceful - just cant see DD being like that LOL Assume once the form is submitted, we get a confirmation, but do you know how long it takes for that letter to arrive?
