MargaretN7 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I wanted to read the FT Tony Hall-BBC article listed in the links, but the FT site insisted I register to see that item, even for the 8 free a month, giving them my email address, which I have no wish or intention of doing. Anyone know if one can see a small number of items without registering?
chrischris Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I believe you have to register. I imagine all online newspapers will be heading that way.
alison Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 The FT site has been intermittently insisting on registration/logging in for years. Why not open a free Gmail/Outlook/Yahoo! account just for junk like this and never bother using it? Alternatively, if you already have a Hotmail/Outlook account you can make use of their facility for creating different email addresses.
John Mallinson Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Different papers and news sites have different policies with regard to paying for content and access to articles with or without registration. The trend, not surprisingly, seems to be for them to try to earn money from their online material. The Times/Sunday Times which is behind an impenetrable paywall claims to be having a success with that model. We have updated the information on the About Dance Links posting to take the changes into account.
alison Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Shocking. I didn't realise The Times' circulation had dropped that low
