Anna C
Thanks Everhopeful! We attended the CAT taster day there and were very impressed indeed. May keep the thought of applying on hold as a Plan B for a couple of years' time. At the moment dd loves her ballet associates too much to want to change. :-)
Kitschqueen_1
Hi, the CAT schemes are fabulous. My daughter is in her first year at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and loves every minute of it. This was actually a plan B for us too and then she chose it above 2 ballet associate schemes she'd successfully auditioned for!! Go figure
Karen
You are very lucky to have a range of varying opportunities! Geographically for us MAs is 2 hours drive away and there are no other possibilities within accessible travel distance. Would love to be able to get to a CAT scheme! The downside of living by the seaside, I think!
Anna C
An awful lot of my dd's friends travel from the coast to Associate schemes; some drive but most use the train, I think. If you look at the CAT map here: http://www.nationaldancecats.co.uk/ there is one in South London which might be do-able for people on the South Coast. Â CATs and good Associate schemes have people travelling from all over. I think we're lucky that we can get DD to hers in only 90 mins each way! :-)

Kitschqueen_1
I know my daughter's CAT will source local satellite classes for one of the weekly sessions for those who live very far away. One of the boys in her year travels 2 1/2 hours each way to attend! It's an hour each way for us so not too bad.
Interested Parent
Karen, I notice you are from the South West, so yes, a very long drive indeed! I would have thought Swindon might be closer for you but even so, still along way.
Karen
Thank you all for your responses - I will think about what we might be able to do if dd does not take up vocational place (still waiting for funding outcome)
tutoo2much
There is a satellite CAT scheme in Exeter. Â
Anna C
Yes, my apologies, because when I think "South Coast" I tend to think Sussex/Hampshire/Dorset. As opposed to proper South West which would be a bit of a trek to London! ;-)
Janice
We are in Somerset and travel to London each week. We are lucky to still have a train station In our small town and it takes about 2 1/2 hours it is not to bad at all, lots of time to read.
