tutoo2much Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 We have tried cheap ones, expensive ones, designer ones, camping ones etc, and haven't found one that doesn't leak or leave an after taste. DD just re-using old water bottles, but I don't think this is particularly healthy. But at least everything else in her dance bag stays dry.any recommendations?
dancingmuppet Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I've found the sistema twist 'n' sip ones great, think we've only had one leak and that was due to dd not closing it fully. We use them for school and dancing. 1
tutoo2much Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I have seen those but have become so wary thought I would ask on here before spending any money. 1
rowan Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I can't recommend the Contigo brand too highly. I have one of their flasks for my morning commute, and it's fantastic - indestructible and completely leak-proof. You can also get them from Amazon. http://www.mycontigo.com/ 1
mimi66 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) I also use sistema twist 'n' sip for my dance classes, and so far I am content. Edited October 26, 2013 by mimi66
Anna C Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 We had a Sistema twist n sip and it leaked straight away. That went back for a refund! The Nike ones are good; they have a vacuum rather than a lid. However, dd won't use it due to the gurgling sound made by the bottle after use (sucking air back in or something) - it's "SO embarrassing" apparently! 1
dancingmuppet Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 It's these ones that I've found goodhttp://www.the-emporium.co.uk/product-detail/229975/sistema-460ml-twist-39n39-sip-squeeze-bottle-785?gclid=CO3Qv-HLtLoCFVMdtAod4VMAXg. The other shapes by sistema I haven't found as reliable. 1
Legseleven Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 That's the kind DD has, dancingmuppet. Perhaps you were unlucky enough to get a duff one, spannerandpony? 1
Anna C Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Ah, ok. We had this type - leaked even when upright! http://sistemaplastics.com/products/hydration/600ml-skittle-bottle
Fiz Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 My pink one of those has been going for 18 months and I have been putting it in the dishwasher even though it says you shouldn't. It is still fine! 2
Billyelliott Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 We have been using sistema twist and sip for both boys at school and dance for more than 3 years now ! - also put them in the dish washer - only leak if they are cross threaded or not done up properly
taximom Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 My pink one of those has been going for 18 months and I have been putting it in the dishwasher even though it says you shouldn't. It is still fine! A 'Me Too' moment here as I use my pink sistema one at work without any problems!
alison Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I believe you shouldn't re-use old mineral-water bottles too much - some benz-something-or-other-chemical which tends to get into the water 1
ZooZoo Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 One green bottle ones are great. Google "one green bottle". They are stainless steel so no issues with plastic chemicals. They last forever and you can buy new lids! 1
Anna C Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Reading the reviews of Sistema bottles on Amazon, it seems that many people love them and have no problem with them, but some people's bottles leak from day 1! There seems to be an element of hit and miss with them. I definitely did our one up properly so perhaps they produce a duff batch every so often. :-(
tutoo2much Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Will give the sistema ones a go. But very impressed by the contigo video demonstrating how to drink from it.! Not sure how to get hold of one though. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp9VYsf9IdM
tutoo2much Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Just had a look and you can buy contigo water bottles on amazon. This one even has a secret compartment!
Aurora Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 We've got about 6 sistema bottles and none of them leak so I think you'd be pretty unlucky to end up with one that did.
pas de chat Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 We always use sistema but DD has new bottle from Aladdin which is very good and a bit more grown up and it doesn't leak - ever!
pas de chat Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Is it one of the clear ones, pdc? yes it is clear with small hearts on it. It is so leak proof I have bought myself one for work. 1
Anna C Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Fantastic, I don't suppose you could send me a link to it, could you? :-)

Anyway this is my bottle and the best thing for me is that I can put ice in it whereas the sistema ones it is very difficult. Both however never leak! 2
Jan McNulty Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 PDC, I still find the link thing confusing. When you put the link in you need to do a "return" to ensure it comes up blue and "neatened" BUT it doesn't come up blue until after you have posted! Your link has worked fine! 1

Thank you - I was looking at these the other day. :-) Silly question - is the lid attached and "flip off", or does it unscrew and come right off?
