RhodaKuc
Taking en pointe to the extreme I think! http://www.boredpanda.com/ballerina-with-knife-shoes-performs-en-pointe-javier-perez/ RK
Gingerbread
I'm not showing that to my DD - it's exactly the sort of thing she'd have a go at, and we have quite a new kitchen floor!!
Moomin
Omg, the pas de deux work doesn't bare thinking about!
Anna C
DEFINITELY don't try it anywhere - home or not! Could that BE any more dangerous!?
Fiz
Is that supposed to be clever? More like completely idiotic to my way of thinking!
Jan McNulty
I was terrified just watching it! One little slip..... and the results could have been horrific. Spanner is absolutely right. This is WAY TOO DANGEROUS.

lisadebs
Can appreciate the concept - but couldn't finish watching the film. Combination of hideously vicious looking knives, vulnerable looking ballerina and damage to a piano - bit too much for me...
LinMM
A bit like something out of an Almadovar film!! How did she actually practice for this!!! I too was hoping wasn't a real piano because of the destruction there. Things people do for Art these days!!
swanprincess
Woah.... Her ankles would've broken so easily, i too only watched a bit of it!!
Moomin
You didn't really see upper and lower body so I presume she was being supported to avoid injury & the upper body was just done seperately on the flat if that makes sense!
Anna C
Pointless and insanely stupid. In my humble opinion.
Lisa O`Brien
Why was she on a piano ? Surely it would have been much better being on a normal stage. She would have had more room to move about. Not only did she had to contend with dancing on knives, she also had to worry about not falling off the piano.!
miss.pointe
Yes, there wasn't a single shot where you could see her whole body - as in, torso and legs/feet. Even right at the end when you see the whole body, there's enough shadow so she could easily have been supported. I am not sure she actually danced like that in one go. But I agree, poor piano! I am quite old fashioned, I don't like to see beautiful things like pianos being destroyed, although it's an art form in itself I suppose. Quite creepy - bit painful to watch but quite well made.
Ian Macmillan
Very odd - I'd say pointless, were it not that there are two of them dangerously in evidence - and could as well have been posted in 'Not Dance.'
Quintus
I imagine she was in a harness, but even so a slip could have been very nasty. It's an innovation that could liven up Olympic Taekwondo though!
Mumofballetmaddaughter
I felt quite horrified at watching this. Apart from the obvious dangers to the dancer, I don't like wanton destruction.
Thecatsmother
Very dark and disturbing. Surprised someone agreed to do something for arts sake which for me seems a little 'pointeless'
Pups_mum
Not "art" that I can appreciate I'm afraid, and I won't show it to my husband. He loves pianos as much as I do ballet and would be appalled by the destruction.
Gingerbread
at one point (pointe)? she says "je te deteste" (I think). Or rather, screams it. Perhaps you could interpret the short film as depicting this dancer's love/hate for her art - she wants to "make her mark" on the music, but is engulfed by the pain of the art at the same time. or something. Dance*is*life
I didn't watch the video - the stills were enough! My immediate reaction was Why on earth would she agree to do this???? And what was it all for?
Gingerbread
Thinking about this a little more, I think it does have a point and isn't gratuitously destructive. Has anyone seen The Red Shoes - of course you must have! This short film seems to me to be depicting a dancer compelled to dance by whatever force (magic or just her own need) desperately trying to "kill" the music and gain release. Sometimes you need to reflect on art a little bit?

Fiz
So do I,Spanner, and it frightened the life out of Char when she was seven. A friend's daughter refused to dance any more after seeing it at the same age, saying ballet was evil! However she always was a little strange! :8
