drdance
It might also be worth remembering that schools such as these are extremely selective as well as supportive in cases of bullying between students. Even if a bully isn't excluded for bullying per se, appraisals/assessments are never far away and schools that value a supportive community may well remember which kids cause problems (ie the bullies) when decisions are being made. JulieW
Sadly in our experience, if they're very talented they can seem to get away with behaviour that is unacceptable (until it gets really bad at least)
drdance
Oh dear Julie that's not good. I'd hoped schools would use their systems positively in cases like that.
LinMM
In some Primary schools where sport is particularly highly valued there are problems sometimes similar to what JulieW was hinting at. For example if a boy is very good at football and so much valued for that by a school team they sometimes can behave very badly and seem to get away with it because no one dares to take them out of the team!! There have been a number of occasions when I have felt very annoyed by this. I love sports too but don't think any one individual no matter how good they are should seem to take priority over others.....eg another less able child seriously misbehaving or bullying etc would be told off or removed for a session in the team but not the "star"! It would be a pity if this happened in vocational schools too where parents may be paying a lot of money for child to attend.
