Pas de Quatre
Best wishes for a speedy recovery - injuries are a dancer's occupational hazard - so I hope he doesn't get too frustrated while it is healing.

JulieW
Thanks again everyone. He's being good and not putting any weight on it. Sadly he'll be off dance for a few months but he'll work on his strength and flexibility while he's off.
victoriapage
The time will go faster than he thinks as long as he's invested in his recovery, which it certainly sounds as though he is! Best wishes to him and to you.
JulieW
So far so good, but 6 weeks later and he's just allowed to start walking on it! Xray looked good though so fingers crossed things continue to improve

Thecatsmother
I hope he will be on the mend soon. He is in good company as I believe Darcey Bussell had that surgery. I have seen several students have it done who have recovered well.
drdance
Glad to hear recovery is going well so far. This next part is the crucial bit. Does he have a physio overseeing his rehab?
JulieW
We've known lots of people who've had bone spurs removed, just a bit concerned about the location and getting the movement back, but hopefully if it's healed well things should be ok. They have a good company physio :-)

JulieW
Thanks everyone (again). Haven't heard from him today so I presume things went ok! Still a way to go - won't really know how it is until he starts dancing on it properly but he's getting there.

JulieW
It's long old road to recovery when they have foot operations isn't it?! DS went back to ballet class early December, but no more than barre work for about 3 weeks, so here we are, nearly 5 months after the operation and he's up to petit allegro in class (he was trying pirouettes last week which went OK, so he's progressing!). He's been in the gym a lot to help with fitness and sounds like the ballet master's been helping him regain his general technique. Hope you don't mind me updating you, but I think it's useful for others to see how long something like this takes to recover from - there are no "quick fixes".
