Jan McNulty Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 A Classic Christmas with Northern Ballet Northern Ballet celebrates the festive season with a magical programme of breathtaking ballet, an enchanting black-tie ball and a fun-filled family day. The Cinderella Ball on 5 December features exclusive preview excerpts from the Company’s new production of Cinderella and the unique opportunity for ball-goers to take to the floor with the Company’s professional dancers. Interspersed with performances by the Company and finishing with the opportunity to live the fairytale yourself and dance with the stars of the ballet at the after-dinner dancing, this magical evening is the perfect way to celebrate the festive season with friends, family and colleagues. The Ball takes place at Northern Ballet’s award-winning dance studios in Leeds and starts at 7pm with a drinks reception followed by a delicious three-course dinner with wine and coffee. Tickets for the Ball are priced at £120 per person or £1200 per table. For younger ballet fans Northern Ballet is offering a special day of family activities including dancing, crafts and lunch at its award-winning home in the centre of Leeds. The popular Family Day takes place on Sunday 22 December from 1pm and is followed by a matinee performance of Cinderella at Leeds Grand Theatre at 4pm. Tickets are priced at £15 per child excluding theatre seats, with adults able to accompany their children in the workshop at no additional cost. In December the Company premières its second new production of the year, Cinderella. Hot on the heels of sell-out performances of The Great Gatsby, Cinderella is one of the most beloved fairytales of all time and Artistic Director David Nixon OBE sets the story in snowy Russia and its opulent ballrooms. Cinderella has its World Première at Leeds Grand Theatre on 17 December before embarking on national tour in 2014. Before that, Northern Ballet’s heart-warming and hugely popular production of A Christmas Carol returns to the stage, conjuring up the world’s best known skinflint and his three ghosts in a traditional Victorian Christmas. The production tours during October and November to Norwich, Canterbury, Sheffield, Bradford and Manchester. Northern Ballet is also teaming up once again with Harvey Nichols and Rudding Park to offer further exceptional experiences with dining and accommodation packages. Notes to Editors Northern Ballet is one of the UK’s five large ballet companies. Based in Leeds it performs throughout the UK as well as overseas. Northern Ballet’s productions mix classical dance and theatre, embracing popular culture and taking inspiration from literature, opera, or giving a unique interpretation of popular classical ballets.
