Pavlala
My DD was astonished to be presented with a special Good Luck gift (stuffed in a carrier bag)! It is the graduation tutu of Maya Plisetskaya from the Bolshoi choreographic school. This exquisite tiny piece of silk crêpe de chine and tulle needs some conservation repair, and I am at a loss where to seek expert help. Has Anyone Any Advice? Apologies of a newbie if I have posted incorrectly, I've literally taken the 'all aspects of dance..'
Elliepops
The Institute of Conservation - www.icon.org.uk can give advice on textile care, and have some of their literature online. The Conservation Register - www.conservationregister.com can provide a list of qualified professional conservators, contact details and examples of previous work. Anna C
Gosh, Pavlala, what a wonderful and extraordinary present! Welcome to the forum, by the way. :-)
Pavlala
Thankyou Spanner. Her generous teacher was given it when she graduated from vaganova to Kirov by HER teacher Bogolyupskaya!! So no pressure there then! She must have been tiny,as it virtually fits my slender Yr9 DD. I've heard Maya is nearly 90 and lives in Spain.
