Guest Autumn days Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 The talk seems to be that there are no jobs out there but RBS graduates have done amazingly well. Does anyone know the destinations of this years graduates from the other schools? Thought it best to start a new thread! 2
KathyG Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Until published by school don't think I can divulge Elmhurst graduate destinations. 1
John Mallinson Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Until published by school don't think I can divulge Elmhurst graduate destinations. Does Elmhurst usually publish their student outcomes? I can't remember seeing them in previous years. The RBS lists theirs in the end of year show programmes which makes them public knowledge but not as far as I can see on their website.
Anon2 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 John On the Elmhurst home page under the dance bit there is a link to graduate employment - lists for the last two years. 1
mimi'smom Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 The list of Elmhurst graduate destinations can be found on the 'dance' tab of their website but no information for this year's graduates as yet
JulieW Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Please everyone, feel free to post here when they're available on the school websites, like we did in the previous thread. http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/560-recent-graduate-destinations-from-uk-vocational-ballet-schools/?hl=+graduate+destination But may I ask that we keep discussion about them to a minimum so that this thread is a useful point of reference for people. Further discussion should happen in new threads. Thanks 3
BalletDad10 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Hello. I noticed the last post here was in July, so I was wondering if anyone knows the vocational schools' graduate destinations for 2013 yet. Thank you in advance.
Jan McNulty Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 This thread is in the News forum and gives some news about recent RBS graduates: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/5176-rbs-students-given-rb-contracts-october-2013/ Any comments on that topic should continue to be posted on that thread please.
JulieW Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (Although this should probably be in a "news" section, I actually think it's of more interest to those who mainly read "Doing Dance" as you're using it to help when deciding where to apply. When I get a mo I'll put a link from News.) I've done a bit of searching and found the following information (if you wish to discuss any particular schools it's worth searching for old threads, or starting a new one rather than starting a long discussion here about the training or merits of each school): ELMHURST Students who graduated in 2013 have found employment as follows: Katie Bagshaw, Graduate placement at Elmhurst Elisabetta Barbieri, Balleto di Milano Joseph Cane, National Ballet of Croatia Michela Clarke, Graduate placement at Elmhurst Taylor Clow, Serbian National Ballet Gabrielle Fairhead, Just Live Dance, Singapore; now working for a BA Honours degree Michael Gibbons, Poznan National Opera Ballet Georgia Giboin, Vanemuine Theatre, Estonia Rebecca Jackson, Graduate placement at Elmhurst Jessica-Jo Marshall, currently studying at Middlesex University Felicity McGee, Apprentice at Balleto di Sienna Shaun Mendum, Ballet Wales Eri Nishibara, Romanian Ballet Company Nastazia Philippou, National Theatre Ballet, Brno Max Robertson, Serbian National Ballet Caspar Stadler, Apprentice at Boston Ballet Julia Vargas Gil, Ballet Dortmund Damani Williams, Graduate placement at Elmhurst ROYAL BALLET SCHOOL Congratulations to our 2013 graduates who have gained the following contracts:Luca Acri - The Royal BalletAnnette Buvoli - The Royal BalletMatthew Ball - The Royal BalletDavid Donnelly - The Royal BalletAnna Rose O’Sullivan - The Royal BalletMarcelino Sambé - The Royal BalletYaoqian Shang - Birmingham Royal BalletNikita Ruhl - Birmingham Royal BalletMariko Sasaki - Birmingham Royal BalletDaniele Silingardi - English National BalletJoan Zamora - English National BalletEvan Loudon - Scottish BalletNikisha Fogo - Vienna State Opera BalletSuzan Opperman - Vienna State Opera BalletJames Stephens - Vienna State Opera BalletDanielle Muir - Berlin BalletMatthew Knight - Zurich Ballet 2Hannah Beach - Hamburg BalletAlexander Bennett - Bavarian State Ballet 2, MunichTakahiro Tamagawa - Dortmund BalletLuke Cinque-White - Nederlands Dans TheatreCalum Collins - National Ballet of PortugalEsteban Hernandez - San Francisco BalletLucy Gold - Sarasota BalletKevin Hale - Colorado BalletLewis Gardner - Singapore Dance Theatre ENGLISH NATIONAL BALLET SCHOOL Alice Bayston - Northern Ballet Graduate Professional Programme Helene Douesnard - National Theatre Ballet, Brno Alexandra Livermore - Disney in Japan Alazne Lopez - Etxebarria Staatsoper Hoaanover Ellena Nou - Northern Ballet Graduate Professional Programme Daniela Oddi - Scottish Ballet Rosanna Whittle - Birmingham City University, media & communications Airi Yonemochi - Cinevox Junior Company, Switzerland Diego Cardelli - Vanemuine Theatre Ballet, Estonia Jessy Chraibi - National Theatre Ballet, Brno Alain Divoux - Vanemuine Theatre Ballet, Estonia Filippo De Vilio - Northern Ballet Graduate Professional Programme Matthew Koon - Northern Ballet Mlindi Kulashe - Northern Ballet Francois-Eloi Lavignac - The Australian Ballet Frederico Oliveira - National Theatre Ballet, Brno Aeden Pittendreigh - Zurich Ballet 2 Harry Price - Baltic Dance Theatre, Gdansk Marcos Uso Salas - The London Ballet Company Lucien Vecchierelli - VM Dance Company CENTRAL Thomas Edwards - Scottish Ballet Alice Laidler and Bookee Suksathaporn - apprenticeships with Phoenix Dance Theatre Carys Applebee - apprenticeship with the Springs Dance Company Tom Broderick and Reece Causton - Matthew Bourne's New Adventures Company in their production of Swan Lake Victoria Paine and Michaela Guibarra - Worldwide Tour of Phantom of the Opera Lee Hoy - working as understudy to the lead in Billy Elliott in London Oliver Jones - Grand Ballet of Poznan in Poland as a Demi Soloist Jack Cussans - New English Ballet Theatre Joshua Earl - National Ballet of Portugal Haruka So - Nippon Ballet Academy Christopher Furlong - Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts (Edited to add - see Spannerandpony's post below for updated info) HAMMOND Would take too much re-formatting and trying to find relevant information as there are only a few ballet positions, so here’s the link to their website: http://www.thehammondschool.co.uk/news-events/destinations-and-achievements/ TRING SCHOOL Can’t find any information – they have a big alumni page on their website but that could be students of any genre from any year RAMBERT SCHOOL Can’t find any specific information – they have an alumni page on their website but it’s quite general BALLET WEST Can’t find any information for about graduates NORTHERN BALLET SCHOOL Last graduate information on their website was from 2011 - someone needs to update it!! 6
Tulip Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Hasn't one of Central students gone to BRB this year? Thanks Julie for finding this information for us all, very useful.
Pas de Quatre Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Ballet West graduate Sarah Mortimer has joined Ballet Theatre UK (although she may have officially graduated 2012), and Charlotte Eaders who graduated this year has also joined BTUK as an Apprentice Dancer.
Jan McNulty Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Hasn't one of Central students gone to BRB this year? Thanks Julie for finding this information for us all, very useful. Max Maslen has just started his second year at BRB so presumably graduated in 2012.
2dancersmum Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Hammond list is dance, musical theatre and drama students. The vast majority on there seem to be graduates 2011-2013 but not all.
Living the Dream Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 This is not a full list because I do not know all the graduate destinations for ENBS graduates in 2013, but the ones I do know are: The Australian Ballet, Northern Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Balet NDB and Ballett Zurich.
BalletDad10 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Great research. Looking forward to getting the ENBS list when it becomes available.
Anna C Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Great stuff, Julie! :-) If I may just update Central's graduate info slightly, there were a few who were missed off: "The School's 2013 graduates now have contracts with the following companies: Carys Applebee - Springs Dance Company (apprenticeship) Charlotte Berard - Brussels International Ballet School Jacob Bradford - Celebrity Cruises Aisling Brangan - Scottish Ballet Léa Bridarolli - Kale Companhia de Dança, Portugal Tom Broderick - Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, Swan Lake production Reece Causton - Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, Swan Lake production Jack Cussans - New English Ballet Theatre Joshua Earl - National Ballet of Portugal Thomas Edwards - Scottish Ballet, full permanent contract Christopher Furlong - Mannheim University of Music & Performing Arts (affiliated with the Karlsruhe State Theatre of Baden) Michaela Guibarra - Phantom of the Opera, worldwide tour Lee Hoy - Billy Elliott Oliver Jones - Grand Ballet of Poznan Alice Laidler - Phoenix Dance Theatre (apprenticeship) Victoria Paine - Phantom of the Opera, worldwide tour Giulia Pazzaglia - Mannheim University of Music & Performing Arts (affiliated with the Karlsruhe State Theatre of Baden) Haruka So - Nippon Ballet Academy, Japan Bookee Suksathaporn - Phoenix Dance Theatre (apprenticeship) Amane Takaishi - Tony Williams Dance Centre, Urban Nutcracker production, Boston Kotoko Yamamoto - Cinevox Junior Company, Switzerland" Max Maslen did indeed go to Birmingham Royal Ballet but yes, he graduated in 2012. Shame the connection with Northern Ballet seems to have been lost in the last few years, but nice to see some Central grads going to Scottish Ballet this year. :-)
JulieW Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Shame the connection with Northern Ballet seems to have been lost in the last few years, but nice to see some Central grads going to Scottish Ballet this year. :-) Last year a couple of students from Elmhurst and one from Royal went to Northern Ballet, but noone this year. I'm not sure they even had any new starters this year (although I know some who left, so perhaps there's been some down-sizing - discussion for another thread....) 1
afab Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 They did have new comers as they announced their arrival in the newsletter sometime in the spring if I remember well...
veryskint Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Two ENBS graduates started with Northern. One was Matthew Koon, I cannot remember the name of the other. 1
capybara Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Two ENBS graduates started with Northern. One was Matthew Koon, I cannot remember the name of the other. Mlinde Kulashi. 1
JulieW Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Ah yes - forgot Matthew started this year - seemed like longer ago than that! I've emailed ENBS and asked for graduate destinations - not sure if they'll respond.... 3
Guesty Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 A third year at Tring was just offered a place with the scottish ballet company i believe. 5
hfbrew Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 A third year at Tring was just offered a place with the scottish ballet company i believe. This is true. And two have joined Serbian National Ballet earlier in the year as did another to English National Ballet. 1
Tulip Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Is this a third year this year or last year, I would love to know who it is and well done to them.
hfbrew Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Natalia Butragueno to ENB, Pascal Johnson to Scottish and Lloyd Petchey and Philip Tunstall to Serbia, all in past few months so the third years due to graduate in summer 2013 although some of these left during this year to take these contracts. I found all this information in the news section of Tring Parks website. 2
Lildancer96 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I thought that pascal was in third year now and therefore would be due to graduate 2014 but has left to start a contract. ? 1
Anna C Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 This is true. And two have joined Serbian National Ballet earlier in the year as did another to English National Ballet. If we are thinking of the same person, I think the ENB contract must have been temporary. She's no longer listed on ENB's website. :-(
Tulip Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Unfortunately it was temporary, pascal is in this years third year so graduates in 2014 massive well done to him. 3
Pas de Quatre Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Yes, it was temporary - dd saw her in London over half term.
Pas de Quatre Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 With their big productions in the round, ENB employs quite a few dancers on short term contracts. Scottish Ballet does the same for some of its productions - e.g. Nutcracker. That is why on Central's page of graduates, Thomas Edwards is listed as having a full year contract, to show the difference. 1
