pas de chat Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 My DD is doing the four month RAD Associates and in July will do her last class. She has loved every minute of it and has met lots of lovely new friends. Does anyone know what happens at the end of this programme? Do we wait again until next year or is there a plan to run a yearly programme? Many thanks
Circe Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I think this is the third time this has been run - I think it runs either every school term or twice per year I can't quite remeber ( my daughter has done it twice). Its seems successful so I'd have thought it would continue. I tend to keep an eye on the announcements on the RAD website although students have to be registered via their teacher. My dd's teacher is selective about who shes sends but no idea if they all are. You could also ask the RAD staff at the next session as the person registering them in and out always seems very friendly.
Picturesinthefirelight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 They usually run December -March & March-April Dd was on the waiting list the 1st term and her teacher (who doesn't do email or websites) asked me to chase it for her the following term as they were holding a cheque They apologised and said she should have been offered a place but dd was already cast in a musical anyway so the next session they sent the booking form to me direct and I just had to get dd's teacher to sign.
taxi4ballet Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 There may be some information on the RAD facebook page (sorry, don't know how to do a link!)
Lifeafterballet? Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 My daughter finished her classes in March this year. I asked if they would mail drop me details for the next course but was advised to keep looking at the website.
2dancersmum Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 This was the 4th set of classes in Birmingham (ending in July) and the 1st for Cambridge. Classes run December - March and then April to July each year. Once they gave us a letter for the RAD teacher for the next session but I think that was only the first time and I think details will go on the website once they are known. I expect this will be over the summer holidays. For Birmingham in particular they have to sort out dates as much in advance as possible because there is so much demand for the studios. The teachers are supposed to be selective I think. The form only allows for a certain number of pupils - unless they submit multiple forms of course.
pas de chat Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 I think that was what I was wondering. When it all ends in July do only the girls who are progressing get asked back for the next session whenever it may be? The teaching has been excellent and my DD has loved every minute of it. We are coming up to RAD exams very soon and I have seen a big change in my DDs confidence. Well worth it if any mums are in doubt.
Picturesinthefirelight Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I'm not sure about that. We knew that we couldn't do the current term and dd's last session was on a snowy day when she had to rush back across Birmingham for a Cats rehearsal. My mother in law brought her to the rehearsal so I didn't get the chance to speak to them.
2dancersmum Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 RAD Associates allocate places on first come first served basis. The RAD Associates themselves do not ask back any of the girls or boys. As I said we all got a form for the teacher at the end of the first set of sessions but I think it was just because it was a new scheme and they wanted to ensure it continued. It was publicised on the website for that and subsequent sessions and we have not had any forms in the final session since. It is your DDs teacher at her regular ballet school who decides if your DD will continue to the next session as it is the teacher who has to register the children.
