Picturesinthefirelight
All the Year 6 leavers at dd's school get given a book at Prize Giving. I'm trying to think of an appropriate one for dd I jokingly suggested Singing & the Actor (but it was a joke as its more aimed at post 16 students!!) Any ideas. She does read a lot. She also likes philosophy and politics as well as performing.
along for the ride mum
I bought my daughter a lovely hardback version of Noel Streatfields 'ballet Shoes' as a gift for her when she went for final auditions earlier this year. She loves it and it ties up with a ribbon. I don't know if your dd is as much of a 'bunhead' as mine though or more musical theatre inspired but my dd loves this old classic (not sure what kind of misguided pre-conceptions she'll arrive at vocational school with, perhaps she'll think it's all jolly hockey-sticks and midnight feasts!) Picturesinthefirelight
I did have one idea and that was a copy of The Grimmerie but we've been given a book token to spend and that would have to be ordered from the Wicjed website. We can add money to the voucher but a limit of £15 has been set and I think Grimmerie is a lot more. She has Ballet Shoes but its not one of her favourite books which surprised me. along for the ride mum
I had never heard of the Grimmerie, but have just looked on amazon at the 'look inside' feature (brilliant idea). It looks lovely and as we all love Wicked I now have a great idea for Christmas/ birthday. Thank you. Oh dear, that hasn't helped you much has it PITF! Spax
Carlos Acosta book is really good. It made my ds realise how lucky he is as CA had to sleep on concrete floors.... Or A cat called Bob. Couldn't put it down! True story of Bob who you will see or have seen in Covent Garden and befriended a unemployed guy who beg for money in Covent Garden. This cat just followed him everywhere even to Tottenham Court Road from CG. Amazing, heart warming book. Now they live together ") Edited June 5, 2013 by Spax
drdance
I loved a Street Cat Called Bob - nothing to do with dance though! Darcey Bussell has a book that documents her career in lots of beautiful pictures. This link is quite good too http://www.yalsa.ala.org/thehub/2012/01/17/ballet-books-for-teens/. Bunheads (Sophie Flack) and To Dance (Siena Cherson Siegal) look like they might be suitable?

Fiz
There is a children's version aimed at the 11+ age group but it is a paperback and I know you want something special for your dd.
Legseleven
Picturesinthefirelight, there is an ad for a copy of 'The Grimmerie' in 'For Sale/Wanted' at the moment - I know you wanted to use a voucher but don't know how much the seller wants for it. It may be possible to use the voucher on another book and get 'The Grimmerie' as well if it isn't too expensive?
