alison
I see the Proms Guide is out today: haven't really had a look, except to notice that there's a lot of Wagner. So, which am I more likely to want to miss, Tristan und Isolde, or Siegfried?
A frog
I'd have Bychkov's Tristan over pretty much anything, but on the other hand Nina Stemme…Do you really have to choose?
alison
Too late, anyway, the choice has been made ...
meadowblythe
It's an overnighter for me ... Mahler's Resurrection on the Friday, Alison Balsom (DD's heroine!) on the following afternoon. .
alison
Different Friday . And I'll be planning on not missing the Mahler, too!
JaneL
I'm quite disappointed that there's no full-length ballet score this year. I enjoyed Swan Lake and Cinderella so much the last 2 years, I was really hoping for another one this year. I know there's the one with Coppelia and Rite of Spring and there's also Firebird - but wasn't Firebird on the year before last? Would have been nice to have something different. alison
Firebird and Rite get programmed at the Proms with predictable regularity. And I'm not sure there are any full-length ballet scores left that would be deemed suitable for a Prom: Raymonda, perhaps?
