Curious
My daughter loves dancing and has been dancing since she was four, started off for social purposes only and over the years seems to be her life. She is good at all genders of dance from ballet to hip hop, maybe not the best but up there with them for her age group. She has decided she wants to be a dancer and I am worried that I will be supporting her for the rest of her career. I just want to no how much do they get paid. For example being In a ballet company, on a cruise ship and also Commericial work. Education as always been the key to success in our house and even my other daughter is worried she will end up not being able to support her self.

JulieW
Welcome Curious :-) I must say I was mighty relieved when my dance-obsessed daughter (been dancing from 3 - good - but not exceptional - at whatever she did) decided shortly after puberty that she wasn't destined for a career in dance (and as others know, now had offers for vet school). My son's a professional ballet dancer and earns very little - but is loving it and can at least support himself (just). But it's a tough world out there for everyone at the moment and I see nothing wrong with following a dream - too many people regret not doing that in the past and giving it their best shot at least. (But keeping realistic at the same time of the chances of "making it") Sorry - a bit waffly......
bangorballetboy
I'm locking this thread as it's somewhat duplicative. Please use the thread linked in post number 2.
