Raven Girl is Wayne McGregor’s latest work for The Royal Ballet and receives its world premiere at the Royal Opera House in May. Raven Girl is an intriguing collaboration with artist and award-winning writer Audrey Niffenegger, author of The Time Traveler’s Wife. This unique modern day fairytale tells the story of the extraordinary raven girl who is trapped in a human body and longs to fly. For this production Wayne McGregor also collaborates with celebrated, Oscar winning composer Gabriel Yared (The English Patient) with costumes by Vicki Mortimer, lighting by Lucy Carter and film projections by Ravi Deepres.

 

George Balanchine’s masterpiece, Symphony in C, provides a grand finale to The Royal Ballet’s Season at Covent Garden. Originally choreographed for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1947 the ballet was first performed by The Royal Ballet in 1991. Symphony in C
is set to Bizet’s Symphony No 1 in C major and is a work for the entire Company with a pair of Principal dancers leading each of its four movements. Its ebullient finale brings the Season to a glittering close.

ROYAL BALLET TOUR 2013

As part of its annual international tour The Royal Ballet will perform in Monaco and Japan.  In Monaco The Royal Ballet will perform Manon at The Grimaldi Forum from 25 – 29 June.  The Company will also perform at The Bunka Kaikan, Tokyo from 5 – 14 July with performances of Swan Lake and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.  The Japan tour will also include a special Gala Evening with The Royal Ballet on 10 July.
