w445403
Has anyone been lucky enough to be offered a year 10 place at Hammond or Tring? Jill
taxi4ballet
DD was offered one for Y10 at Tring, but without MDS funding and we have had to turn it down.

dramascientist
My dd was offered yr 11 place at Tring but like Taxi4ballet since we don't qualify for Mds and couldn't find private funding we had to turn it down.
emsloves2dance
DD was offered a year 9 place, attended MDS final but not successful, shes on the reserve list, but are not hopeful as we are aware there are only a few MDS awards available and 45 attended finals :0(
Marianne
Gosh Taxi - was going to ask if you were close enough to consider a day pupil place. But just looked up the fees and it's still £19,000 a year!!! Is London a commutable distance? Because the London day schools seem to cost less (ie Arts Ed Chiswick £12,000 & YDA £11,000) - although that's still out of reach for many households, I know. tutugirl
Interested to hear about the offer of a year 11 place . Do people move mid GCSE ? If anyone has done so , how did this affect their GCSE results do you think ?

dramascientist
Yes I expected that DD would be asked to join year 10 because in fact she has not been doing GCSEs since her school is abroad and in fact she doesn't even study in English. Maybe they were expecting her to catch up? She is quite bright and I presume the report from her current school said this in her reference so they thought she would be okay. Still doesn't matter now since she can't take the place anyway.
