Guest Autumn days
Hi there! I have been lurking for a while but have so many questions now that I thought I would come out into the open!! I'll post them separately. I have a daughter in year 10 who is very keen to audition for 6th form places next year. She has had some success with previous auditions, associates etc but has never taken the plunge. She has a good local teacher and is somehow keeping up the dance hours! I'm hoping to "meet" some people here who are going through the same thing as well as gain wisdom from those that are doing so already or have done so recently.

Pasdebourree15
Hello! I'm in the exact same boat... I'm in Year 10 and also wanting to audition for 6th Form places at vocational schools next year. Where does your DD want to audition? Best of luck to her as well! Pointytoes22
Just out of interest Jaylou62, am i allowed to ask why your dd isn't going for many British sixth forms (RBS, Elmhurst, ENBS etc)? x

Sheila Beelam
Welcome mum in a spin - I don't have advice for vocational schools, but I do have a DD in lower 6th who juggles regular school work and dancing, so can relate to your name! There's lots of knowledgeable people who can help on here and we're a friendly bunch Sheila x
Lisa O`Brien
Welcome, mum in a spin. I have a ballet-hating 16 year old son,so can`t help at all. Just wanted to welcome you to the forum, though, now you are "out in the open",so to speak.!!
Fiz
I feel for you both, JustBallet and Muminaspin . My drama daughter juggled four sorts of dance, singing, drama, three shows, a ballet exam, a senior LAMDA exam, a drama school audition, three university interviews and kept up her school work in case she needed yo go to university (she did). I don't know how she didn't have a nervous breakdown, followed by my own from driving her everywhere and worrying about it all!
Jaylou62
@Pointytoes22, dd's unable to apply for DaDA courses because we wouldn't be able to afford them even with a DaDA so no point auditioning. Dd upset initially till she received an email from her dance teacher and she's now happy to apply overseas
Sheila Beelam
Wow Fiz, that's a lot to juggle!! I can't wait til DD takes her driving test in a few weeks - I'l have at least 10 hours a week extra when she takes herself to school and ballet!
pastel
I'm sure your rules are different as far as schooling goes, but we find homeschooling a great option. It takes much of the stress out of juggling academics as well as dance. My dd is 15 and started properly at full time vocational school this year. Last year she did about 15hrs week excluding rehearsals and extras like performances. We homeschool using international resources, so if anyone is after help in that department, I'm happy to share what we've found.
