WritingChecks Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 newbie to european summer intensives and yorkshire. Is it that you can apply for 4 weeks, but can only be accepted for a week or 2? Hoping for 2 consecutive weeks as international plane tickets aren't cheap.
Jan McNulty Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Hello @WritingChecks and welcome to the Forum!
glowlight Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 I can't answer your questions about Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, but can say that Yorkshire is absolutely fantastic. There is lots to see and awesome countryside to explore. I'm not sure from your post whether you would be accompanying your dc to the UK, but If you are you couldn't chose a better place in the UK to visit while they are dancing. 3
Sunflower Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 From what I understood this last summer, the content is the same in weeks 3 and 4 as I and 2. Therefore, if you get offered a single week, it could be any, but if you are offered two weeks it would be either 1 and 2 OR 3 and 4. Guest teachers were different each week however. My DD applied for two weeks but was only offered one. It worked out absolutely fine as she ended up being offered so much last summer. How old is your DD? Depending on age, there are other intensives in the UK she could tag onto YBSS. And of course, you could turn it down if you are only offered one week.

I would emphatically agree with all of this as someone born and bred here and now back after a period in London. Yorkshire is a lovely place and worth a visit. There is also plenty of cultural activity in Leeds and York as well as lovely countryside and amazing food in the Dales and Moors and a lot of beautiful historical features.
WritingChecks Posted December 11, 2024 Author Posted December 11, 2024 I see the application is now open. What constitutes a "Vocational School"? DD is dancing approx 30 hours a week at a well known and respected school in the states. She last took her RAD exam in 2021 and did quite well. How does one go about getting a UK Guardian? However, through her old studio we might know someone.
