Bruce Wall Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) My word - he would have only been 39 years of age. He was (and I hate to type that - I find it just shocking) a very fine balletic artist. I will always remember his vivid Oneign in Munich and his historic performances at Covent Garden. This is SO sad. A great loss. Edited November 16, 2024 by Bruce Wall 14 1
annamk Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Oh gosh that is really truly awful. I absolutely loved his dancing and made many trips just to see him. RIP 6
MAB Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I'm in shock! the tears are coming, will write something when I've digested the news. Fly to heaven skylark. 7
Estreiiita Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Horrible news! May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. 3 1
Amelia Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 No words, just tears... Tragically, the history repeats itself, like Yuri Solovyev... and almost at the same age... Memory eternal... 5 2
FionaM Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) My head struggles to comprehend this tragic news. I am heartbroken. He was only 39 and had two beautiful children with Mariinsky principal Maria Shirinkina. I believe his most recent performances at the Mariinsky were Scheherazade in the Ballet Russes triple bill, partnering Ekaterina Kondaurova, and the role of Modest in Vladimir Vasiliev’s Anyuta. He was a kind man … offering a ticket to me for his Giselle through a mutual friend, although I already had mine. That’s the only time I saw him dance in person. Tragedy beyond words. Emeralds Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 (edited) O.M.G. 😲 😮 😥 Unbelievable. That's the second unexpected, shocking death of a young dancer (him and Michaela de Prince) this year. Devastating. No cause of death has been given yet. The last news (because of the invasion of Ukraine cutting off travel for Russian dancers out of St Petersburg) that I heard from/of him was his post on social media: "I am against any warfare! I am for the people, the peaceful sky above the head!" (He went on to mention his grandfather and his great grandmother being from Ukraine). My condolences to his wife Maria Shirinkina, their two young children and his other loved ones. Sad to lose Vladimir for himself, sad to lose such an elegant and technically brilliant dancer who was always a consummate artist. His last performances I saw were Siegfried with Viktoria Tereshkina as Odette-Odile on the Mariinsky Ballet 2017 tour, and Des Grieux and Armand with Osipova as a guest with RB. Rest in peace, Vladimir Shklyarov. Edited November 16, 2024 by Emeralds 10 1
Sim Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 OMG I can't believe this. I follow him on Instagram and he always 'liked' my comments. In 2015 I went to St Petersburg just to see him and Viktoria Tereshkina dance in La Bayadere (twice). That trip was one of the highlights of my life. I then saw his performances in Manon and M&A with Natalia Osipova here in London and was bowled over by him, as always. The ballet world has lost a wonderful artist and a lovely human being. I can't imagine what his wife, children and wider family are going through. I am truly shocked by this. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans and colleagues. RIP dear Skylark, may you soar and dance with the angels. 😢 17 1
BeauxArts Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Desperate news. Such a beautiful dancer and true artist. A Solor for the ages. He was very proud to have danced Manon with the Royal Ballet. Such sorrow. 8
Sophoife Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Oh wow that's awful news. Like many others, I saw his Armand with Natalia Osipova in London in 2017. My condolences to his family and loved ones, and to all ballet fans. 5

Sabine0308 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 What a tragic loss. I've never seen him live but was always mesmerized by videos on youtube and Instagram. A wonderful artist has left the world💔 Let's not speculate on how or why, just take a moment and mourn. 6
Sim Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Polite notice: can we please refrain from speculating until an official or family announcement (if any) is made. Let's just commiserate for now and pay our respects to this very special artist. Thank you. 6 1
Balletfanp Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 This is just terrible. A tragedy for the ballet world 😢 1
Scheherezade Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 So shocked and saddened at this news. May he rest in peace. His was an extraordinary talent and I feel privileged to have seen him dance, but most of all my heart goes out to his family. May they also find peace at this terrible time. 7
ElleC Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 This is such tragic news and my heart aches for his family and friends. He was the dancer I made every effort to see when the Mariinsky came to London (La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Cinderella, R&J) and then those unforgettable performances of Manon and M&A with the Royal Ballet - a beautiful dancer with wonderful dramatic flair. So incredibly sad.😢 7
Angela Essex Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Such utterly sad news. Condolences to his friends, family and all those ballet fans who knew and loved him. 1

LinMM Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 So very sad I really loved his dancing when saw him in London what a tragedy dying so young 😥 Wishes are with his family and friends ❤️ 4
Christine Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Shocking news and so incredibly sad. Such a beautiful dancer and artist and great charisma! After having seen lots of video clips I was finally lucky enough to catch a performance with him in Sleeping Beauty in Baden-Baden, when the Mariinsky Ballet guested there. Unforgettable. RIP Vladimir and condolences to his family.💔 5
