Just received an invite and just wondered whether anyone has been before, and what to expect?

I go as a patron and maybe others do too. It's one of the benefits for patrons.

You watch class in the morning which I always enjoy because I learn so much for my own dance practice from watching what the moves were meant to look like when they're done by people with actual dance ability.

Then you watch them rehearse various of the works they're doing in the autumn and be coached in some of them.

I thoroughly enjoy it because it's so interesting seeing how the company works and how they work together in the group scenes and how they think about the component parts.  Last year it was some of the Hammerklavier for the mixed programme and some of the wedding scene from Beauty and the Beast.

Thank you! I’ll see if I can get some time off work and head up to Leeds for a few days.

If you do come message me if you want to meet up or say hello.  I don't know the other patrons (apart from one person I met at a performance) as this is only my second year doing it.  It's nice to have someone to talk to.

Just to say that I have booked the time off work and booked for the open day. Just need to sort trains and hotel.

I'll message you closer to the day!

I’ve managed to get Chipdog into kennels so I’ll be there for the first time in ages … would love to say hello too.

@Tango Dancer I think you were sat next to a friend of mine at the first night of R&J in Leeds!

As there was little point in my travelling 500 miles just for one day I am staying in Leeds for a couple of days to include the Patrons Open Day on the 22nd. Premier Inn and train all booked!

It will be nice to catch up with anyone going who is part of this Forum as won't know anyone!

This doesn’t coincide with The Ballet Retreat weekend at Northern Ballet premises does it?
They usually have a retreat at the end of August. It’s usually 2/3 days

Unfortunately I assume the usual

ballet classes held at Northern Ballet studios won’t be running in August as well worth catching a class there if looking for things to do in Leeds!
I did this once and stayed at the comparatively cheap and cheerful

Ibis hotel practically next door!
David Kierce runs the Retreat with Hannah.

I wasn’t thinking of attending the Open Day myself! Just suggesting what others attending might want to do as well whilst in Leeds.  But it doesn’t coincide anyway unfortunately as the Retreat is the Bank Holiday weekend.

I can’t do retreats like this anymore as it’s too much dancing over a short period of time for me these days.

But they are always very enjoyable.
Id consider one of their one day retreats though which they offer in Leeds …and London now too.

This open day looks to be very enjoyable too.
