aileen
This weekend, as part of "The Rest Is Noise" cultural festival, there is a series of talks and events celebrating the art of Paris in the early years of the last century. Of particular interest to ballet enthusiasts is a talk by Jane Pritchard about the Ballets Russes and a talk by Stephanie Jourdain (unfortunately at the same time) about The Rite of Spring and Les Noces ballets. You have to buy either a day pass (£15) or a weekend pass (£25) to attend the talks and other events. There is also a separate performance of The Rite of Spring (and other works) by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on 16 February at the Southbank. alison
Thank you for that, aileen. And you've reminded me ...
aileen
Adding to the above, there are also talks about Stravinsky and a film, Riot at The Rite.
aileen
I've just seen a correction to the programme. Jane Pritchard's talk is at 1.30pm, rather than 3.30pm as previouly advertised, and Stephanie Jordan's talk is at 3.30pm. It's first come, first served and I don't know how many people can be accommodated.
