Ja Sm
If that is what they are called! Mydd does a lot of dance in bare feet at secondary school now and the teacher has said they can wear these. What do I buy?

Julie 2 Milner
Bloch make them I think. Martin always used them for contemporary.
FullContretemps
I have the Bloch ones with toe bits - makes turning much easier if you have sticky toes like me! From Dance Direct but I'm sure they sell them other places too.
tutucute22
my little sister wears capezio thingies I think they are called footundeez -strange name ! :-)
Belleballerina
You either love them or not - I have bought my dd the capezio ones for her modern festival duet (her partner loves them) my dd said they hindered and didn't help her performance. Guess it depends on the floor/stage you are working on!
Anna C
Dd wears the Capezio foot undeez too for Contemporary: http://www.planetdancedirect.co.uk/prod6.asp?ID=141&sub_cat=473&offset=&prod_id=1885
Pups_mum
My DD has tried a couple of different types as she finds pirouettes in bare feet hard, but she hasn't really taken to wearing foot thongs either. Sometimes she wears them, sometimes she doesn't - I don't think she has strong feelings really. If your DD isn't happy in bare feet then I'd say they are worth a go, but if she's ok how she is, I wouldn't bother. For something that is basically a small piece of suede and a bit of elastic, they are quite expensive, so unless she actually feels she needs them I would save the money for something more important!

I agree with this. My dd attends a contemporary CAT and foot thongs are not on the equipment list, everything is done in bare feet (and she has the bruises to prove it!!) :-)
Anna C
I think it depends what the floor is like in each particular studio, to be honest. At Associates it's much harder to turn barefoot than it is at dd's local school.
2dancersmum
Does very much depend on the floor. DD wears capezios foot undeez too. She found both at her previous and current school that as the amount of barefoot work increased she and several classmates were getting numerous blood blisters on their feet, this despite the fact that they had done intermediate jazz classes barefoot. The teacher said it also depended on time of year and foot undeez would help feet used to being wrapped up in warm boots or for sweaty feet in a hot summer. DD did not like the feel of them at first but is fine with them now.
taxi4ballet
You can put surgical spirit on their feet - it helps to harden the skin.
