aileen
I know that I'm biased, but I'm very pleased about Ksenia Ovsyanick's award.
alison
Yes, indeed. It must have been really difficult to choose in some of the categories this year. Edit: aileen's post came in just as I hit "Send". I was actually replying to Janet's
Jan McNulty
Here's a note from Scottish Ballet announcing their delight: "Held this afternoon at The Place London, the National Dance Awards are organised eachyear to celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving danceculture. Scottish Ballet is delighted to announce that the Best Classical Choreography Award was awarded to Annabelle Lopez Ochoa for Scottish Ballet’sproduction of A Streetcar Named Desire. Annabelle who attended the event this afternoon is delighted with the award: “I would like to thank the entire creative team at Scottish Ballet and of course the dancers - without them the story would nothave been told. For me, the success of A Streetcar Named Desire means that narrative ballet is back. I have always believed that dance has the power totell a story, and the combination of a theatre director and a choreographer works so well. It means a lot to me that so many people were moved by Streetcar, thiswill definitely not be my last narrative ballet.” Scottish Ballet’s Artistic Director Christopher Hampson added: “I am absolutely thrilled that the winning combination of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Theatre Director Nancy Meckler has won the approval of the CriticsCircle after performances delighted audiences across the country.” "
