Jan McNulty Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 PRESS RELEASE 22 JUNE 2023 BIRMINGHAM ROYAL BALLET ANNOUNCE2023 AMERICAN DATES IN NEW YORK -BRB PERFORMS INTERLINKED AS PART OF AN INTERNATIONAL MIXED BILL AT NEW YORK CITY CENTER’S 20TH FALL FOR DANCE FESTIVAL ON THURSDAY 5 & FRIDAY 6 OCTOBER -BRB TO BE A PART OF NEW YORK CITY PRIDE 2023 Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) has today announced 2023 American dates in New York City as well as participation in this year’s New York City Pride. BRB will perform at New York City Center on Thursday 5 & Friday 6 October as part of the 10 day Fall for Dance Festival. Now in its 20th year, Fall for Dance showcases an international array of dance artists and companies in a programme that aims to build new dance audiences with tickets priced at just $20. Tickets go on public sale 10 September 2023 at 11am. In their first-ever performance at the Festival, BRB will perform Interlinked by young Brazilian choreographer Juliano Nunes as part of a triple bill alongside two other international companies to be announced. With a specially composed score by Australian composer Luke Howard, Interlinked is an abstract piece that explores ideas of grace, beauty and harmony in ways that push the usual boundaries of classical dance which premiered during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year. Ahead of the two New York dates, at the invitation of Hannah Young - Deputy Consul General from the British Consulate General New York, Birmingham Royal Ballet will perform Carlos Acosta’s Dying Swans at a reception to celebrate the British Consulate’s 10th Anniversary at New York City Pride on 25 June. Principal Dancers, Tzu-Chao Chou and Brandon Lawrence will also walk in the Pride Parade and be interviewed for the Brits in the Big Apple podcast. Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Director, Carlos Acosta said: “It is a huge privilege for me to announce that Birmingham Royal Ballet will be performing in New York this autumn. Odyssey Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Interesting, and nice to see, that Brandon hasn’t quite severed his links with the Company yet. Even though the statement doesn’t specifically say if he is dancing, I hope I’m right in assuming that he will be.
