Mikhailovsky at the London Coliseum 26th March - 7th April 2013

Recommended Posts

Booking is now open for the Mikhailovsky company tour to London in March/April of this year. I've just snapped up tickets for performances of Giselle on 26th March - casting yet to be announced but I'm crossing my fingers for Osipova - and Laurencia 2nd April 2012. I'm really surprised there hasn't been a press release yet to announce that tickets are now on sale!

I got my Mikhailovsky tickets on 9th January. Past experience has proven that eno are poor at some pre-publicity, so I was checking with eno website daily! Website still says that the casting for 26th is tbc, but am hoping it'll be Osipova/Vasiliev. Ballet News has given a full schedule, see link - http://balletnews.co.uk/mikhailovsky-ballets-london-tour-casting/ - but of course all could be subject to change. (Am booked for 26/3, 30/3 and 2/4 - yey!)

Now keeping an eye out for The Bolshoi at RoH between 29 July and 17 August - programme is likely to include Sleeping Beauty, Flames of Paris, La Bayadere, and others. I believe that the wonderful Andrey Merkuriev will be dancing - http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/groups/6335594233/ and http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEEzUXN3nPUR9-u3Tc9pMg96a5SQEUWH6&feature=mh_lolz (hope you can open these!).

I went to the Coliseum yesterday and decided to risk booking for a possible Osipova/Vasiliev as first night Giselle casting. The ENO box office didn't have any Giselle casting at all despite every night but the first having being announced for a while on both the ENO and the Mikhailovsky websites. Joan

When I was at the Coliseum Box office last Tuesday, I overheard a member of staff reading out all the Mikhailovsky casting, including the first nights for Osipova and Vasiliev. So, unless that has changed, it is very odd that someone there is now saying that they do not have the information.

They didn't just say they didn't have the casting info. for any of the Giselles he showed me his computer screen all showing TBC for all Giselles. When I said casting was on their website he just said staff hadn't been told. Joan

Perhaps this discount ticket allocation has all gone :(  maybe there will be some more later. :)

Info about their London visit is on http://www.theartsdesk.com/dance/bankruptcy-wont-stop-ballet-0?nocache=1

Now it seems, from comment in the German press, that their Artistic Director is leaving for Berlin.

Hi Caspermil, you only have a half hour window to edit or delete your posts.  Once you have posted, at the bottom of the post on the left hand side of "multiquote" there are some options.  They look greyed out but when you hover over them you can click and use them.

There are lots of hints and tips and a place to ask or answer technical questions in the "About BalletCo Forum" forum.

Still no sign of any effect on the Company tour, but it appears that Mr Kekhman is now prevented from travelling for at least the next 6 months:

Hopefully, his affairs and those of the company will remain separate.  If not .....

Hmm, not sure about that: there are a lot of "allegedlys" and things flying around in that article.

As you will have seen in another thread Nacho Duarto is going to Berlin and may continue to produce his own work at Mikhailovsky -  so you can be sure about it .

with reference to Ian  I wonder if anyone will try to freeze the box office receipts in London...The Bank of Moscow journalists Delovoe. TV said the personal bankruptcy Vladimir Kekhman in court will not stop the British recovery of debt from the companies in the group or JFC as part of Russia, or in the framework of international law. http://delovoe.tv/event/Anglijskoe_bankrotstvo_V/

There is more information about the unfortunate circumstances of Ivan Vasiliev’s cancelled debut:

“Vasiliev, made-up and ready to take on the role for the first time, as well as making his first appearance at Milan’s famed opera house, was limbering up on stage half an hour before the curtain. Landing after a jump he felt pain in his back, and after quick consultations with specialists, it was decided that he couldn’t go on. Coviello, who had danced his unique scheduled performance that afternoon, and was hanging around to see Vasiliev in the role, was hurriedly ushered into make-up to prepare in the 25 minutes remaining before the start.”
