Laura_ballet Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 (edited) Hi All I am writing an article on top audition tips/information for vocational schools in the UK. I appreciate there’s plenty of previous feeds that I could browse through however I’m sure lots of parents of children putting in applications this month wouldn’t mind a current recap condensed into one feed. Thanks Edited October 12, 2022 by Balletmediauk
Laura_ballet Posted October 12, 2022 Author Posted October 12, 2022 Started a very brief list enjoy first and foremost Water bottle and and snacks Match ribbon /bow to ballet belt Leave more time than you think Pack two of everything including shoes Hair heat, nothing fancy. No wisps Plain leotard preferably high cut. No lace or extra straps. Not too low due to number on back. Wear something you’ve worn before that won’t be uncomfortable and make you fidgety Plan something nice to do after From experience Do what is asked! Don’t do a triple pirouette if a single has been set If you don’t know a step ask the teacher to go through, don’t muddle through and guess 3
taxi4ballet Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 When going to the audition, don't keep your water bottle in the same bag as your ballet kit! (Didn't happen to us, but to someone at one of dd's auditions - poor girl arrived to find her bag full of water and her leotard and shoes soaked). If you are travelling by air to an audition, take your mini scissors out of your sewing kit and leave them at home, otherwise they will be confiscated by airport security. (This did happen to us, and jolly good scissors they were too). Wear clean shoes, but not brand new ones, wear them in a couple of times first. Don't wear a leotard with a very low-cut back, as you will find it difficult to pin your number on. Don't either join in with (or be disconcerted by) all the competitive stretching in the waiting room. Just warm up a little bit when you arrive, especially if it is a cold day. During the audition, if you go wrong in the middle of an exercise don't stop dead, keep going and go wrong with style.😂 You have to do this on stage, after all. 5
