WNO youth. Cherry Town Moscow

Great performance of Shostakovich cherry time Moscow by Welsh national youth opera in Cardiff millennium centre.

Very enjoyable one act . Orchestra played beautifully. Lovely young singers though a couple of the men sounded ever so Welsh rather than Russian....sung in English.....lead lady sang like an angel and included some flowey ballet moves even though dressed in dungarees. Shostakovich music very dancey throughout though minimal movement in show. Altogether very enjoyable show and we'll worth the visit

I can't/couldn't get to this, but very strongly recommend the WNO Makropulos Case, which is touring this Autumn. I saw it at the WMC and it was brilliant, deserves all its rave reviews.
