Toe nail

My daughters big toe nail is hanging on by a thread and is very painful. The only thing is that she is still having to do her 6th form auditions. If her toe nail comes off altogether will she still be able to do her point work or will it damage any new toe nail that is growing underneath. She has told me that she will just put up with the pain.

My dd lost a toe nail last summer too and said it felt much better when it actually came off. She carried on dancing on pointe and it is growing back again now .

My daughter has lost several toe nails! Like lildancer's dd, she said it was better when they came off (don't force it though)! Doing pointe work didn't seem to stop the new ones growing back.

I agree with the above - but would urge that you find the cause for the loss of the toenail.

It was new point shoes. They are Gaynor Mindons and the best she has ever had, unfortunately when my daughter was getting used to them, she said that it was hard to go on demi point until the shoe was broken in at that point, or something like that.

_{my DS had severe ingrowing toenail whilst at SI in USA and they took him to the Dr and simply cut the nail off under local anaesthetic- this is apparently how they deal with all such nail problems as it leads to much faster healing (can just then stick a padded plaster over it)- possibly could consider this as it may make her auditions less painful!}
