JohnS
Best to include the Royal Ballet School’s Annual Performance in the full Season - the Grande Defile must surely be the most joyous way of bringing the curtain down, with the audiences’ rapturous crescendo still building. Looking forward to tomorrow!
Emeralds
1 hour ago, PatC said: Having had a REALLY close look at next season I realise - forgive me if others had already mentioned this - that the season ends with a ballerina on a bed rotating round the stage. Is Anastasia act 3 the most bizarre and depressing ending to a season ever? Do we remember the uplifting endings of previous seasons with ballets such as Symphony in C etc….. I’m not free that fortnight to attend the mixed bill, so thankfully I’ll miss it- I prefer to watch Anastasia Act 3 as part of the full length Anastasia. Hopefully the new McGregor piece will be programmed again some other season. I agree ending the 2022-23 season with something that has a more uplifting finale eg Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella, would have been nice.
JohnS
I agree about the full length Anastasia being preferable. Casting’s a long way off but this may be the last chance to see Laura Morera’s Anastasia albeit only Act 3. If she’s dancing I’d have thought it unmissable.
zxDaveM
agreed about Laura Morera JohnS (assuming she is cast) - even though that triple bill doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation. In fact, my excitement goes all the way up to - meh!
alison
Plus, it will - I trust - be the "proper" Anastasia Act III, rather than the amended version we've had in recent years.
